Sure. Basically, you take a piece of literature, cut it down to ten minutes max, and then perform it in a dramatic nature, using your own interpretation of the piece to make it dramatic. Often, competitors choose already dramatic and/or sad material (purely sad or morbid content may do well on local circuits like mine, but generally some humor fares better at Nationals), but even The Cat in the Hat can be interpreted in a dramatic fashion. It's all about the way you look at it. Same for Humorous Interpretation (my event), but obviously with more humor than drama.
