I recently published my first novel under my own name, and have three other novels in various stages of development. My initial novel is a mature YA fantasy (first in a series), and of the three in development, one is its sequel, another is a different fantasy endeavor, and the third is fiction (non-genre).
I have heard varying perspectives on creating a brand as an author, and whether it would be wise for me to publish my non-fantasy novel under a pen name to establish a different brand and prevent confusion and disappointment amongst the readers of the fantasy novels. I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on this.
I would make it clear in the book description that it's not fantasy and carry on. There are a lot of people who use the same name and as long as your brand isn't already established over decades of hard work
