Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments I try not to be too - okay, I'm losing words. Something-centric. Anyway, I know that there are people around here from all over the world. And some of their cultures put family names in front of personal names.

So - when we have, say, a Hungarian author, do we enter the name the way a Hungarian would do it, or western fashion?

I found three author profiles (well, more than that with weirdnesses and such, but three that could be considered legitimate) for Mór Jókai, aka Maurus Jokai (westernized version of his name). There were more titles under Mór Jókai than the other two, so that's what I chose to keep.

Is there an official policy about this issue?

Thanks!
Cyn

Yup. Library of Congress

Both versions show up; the Americanized once and the other over 100. Sounds like a clearcut victory to me. ;)

Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments So does that mean we use Mór Jókai or Jókai Mór?

Thanks,
Cyn
