Brew | 44 comments Just started reading our pick and at least one casting image came to me:

Speaker to Animals.

message 2: by Thane (new)

Thane | 476 comments I'd just Cloud Atlas it. Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and hey, Keith David as Speaker to Animals!

Jim Broadbent as Nessus. Who else can play a two headed alien?

Matthew (masupert) | 0 comments I am very early in the book still, but I immediately pictured Charles Dance as Louis.

Mark Catalfano (cattfish) Can we cast it before the Scyfy channel does?

Bill | 116 comments Yes, Nessus has a female voice. But I can't help equating him with Wallace Shawn.

message 7: by Thane (new)

Thane | 476 comments Oh, you're right. I totally forgot about the beautiful female voice of Nessus.

David Sven (gorro) | 1582 comments Nessus. The other head is hiding

Bill | 116 comments I'll raise your Nessus.

David Sven (gorro) | 1582 comments Your img appears to be broken

I pictured him way younger and way more Asian hahaha... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0943079/?r...

Katie (calenmir) | 211 comments Tony Todd for Speaker, he's super tall and has a rich voice: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0865302/

I mentioned this in another thread, but the audiobook reader, intentionally or not, reanimated the Star Trek character Worf in the body of Speaker. At least for me. So Michael Dorn gets my vote on this one. And the Riker guy probably needs some work, so let's throw him in as the annoying Louis Wu.

He'd be GRRRREAT!

Michele | 1154 comments Riker, as in Jonathan Frakes who now directs all kinds of tv shows? Big white guy now in his 50s? As Louis Wu? Lets at least find someone asian, Donnie Yen maybe.

I believe Wu is only half Asian, but since David Carradine isn't around anymore, sure. More importantly (to me, is there someone who could succeed in making him a likable character?

George Takei

YES!

Triple yes!! I am listening to the audio and think he actually would have been the perfect reader for this book. Audible should consider a remake using Mr. Sulu.

message 20: by Bill (new) - rated it 3 stars

Bill | 116 comments Now that you mention it, I think George Takei would voice a HILARIOUS Nessus. (Oh my!)

This. Oh yes please. I'm dying!

Annoying as heck and a giant man whore pursuing anything remotely female? Yeah, Riker might work.

message 23: by Deon (new) - rated it 2 stars

Deon (noed) | 67 comments George Takei playing ANYONE would spice up this pile of mashed potatoes. I know, it's a lame insult for the book, but I don't hate it, I just wouldn't serve it as a main course...or with Mexican food.

It would take someone awfully graceful, though, to pull off Teela. The way the describe her gait is reminiscent of Chevy Chase's Ford.

Dracul Draconis | 30 comments guys remember he has a body/face of a man in his 20s thanks to boosterspice...

Walter (walterwoods) | 144 comments Louis has to look physically young but feel like an old man. Something like Matt Smith did with the eleventh Doctor.

message 26: by Deon (new) - rated it 2 stars

Deon (noed) | 67 comments Walter, did you mean to say "didn't"? No, sorry, off topic :D

message 27: by Ric (new) - rated it 5 stars

Ric (ricaustria) | 43 comments Re-reading this and realizing how awfully dated it is.

Teela can be played by Rosamund Pike or Olivia Munn.

Jack | 46 comments Tony the Tiger is good, but I immediately thought of Brak from Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

Joseph | 2433 comments My suggestion

message 30: by Jack (new) - rated it 3 stars

Jack | 46 comments Ookla. Nice.

Ralffie | 26 comments I always thought of Fisher Stevens as Louis Wu.
Number Five is alive!

Ooo I like that idea!

message 33: by MarkB (new)

MarkB (Mark-B) | 69 comments How about Ellen "GLaDOS" McLain as Nessus?

Bonus points if they can throw in a singing scene at some point.

message 34: by Peter (new)

Peter Cleary | 6 comments Listening to the Audible version, I think Speaker to Animals sounds (and acts for that matter), like Worf form Star Trek Next Gen. Then again it might be just me

message 35: by Lee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 1 comments I've been thinking for years that Michio Kaku looked familiar to me, but it wasn't until I saw this thread title that I realized it was because he was my Louis Wu.
