Peter Prasad (goodreadscompeter_prasad) | 123 comments Hope you feel better. Roll with the punches, grow a thicker skin, repeat 'pearls before swine' and hope for a misfire or hunting accident.

On the bright side, he didn't give it a 1* and drag down the average significantly.

message 3: by Eric (new)

Eric Quinn (eqknowles) That's true. Could have been worse.

message 4: by Eric (new)

Eric Quinn (eqknowles) Just had to vent somewhere, lest I post a comment on the review and trigger all hell breaking loose.

Steve Thomas | 198 comments I tend to look at "not for me" reviews as marketing issues. If you can identify what drew someone from outside your target audience to your book, maybe you can prevent this sort of review in the future.

Eric Quinn (eqknowles) It's the downside of perma-free, getting picked up by folks who aren't your audience. That's okay. I knew that going in.

Eric Quinn (eqknowles) Ouch. That's crazy, Michele. I read that twice and I still don't know what that reviewer is saying.

message 8: by Steph (new)

Steph Bennion (stephbennion) | 178 comments It is an odd review. However, I've increasingly noticed authors letting off steam on forums about bad reviews and I'm not sure it's a good idea. Not every reader will like an author's work, however brilliant others may think it to be. Sniping at those who leave less-than-complementary reviews (behind their back) is not really what Goodreads is about.

Steph, I can see what your saying. It isn't good to fireback based upon a bad review, and no writer is able to write a piece every person will like However, it is frustrating when the review becomes more of a blast, instead of something that can be used constructively.
