SOS: Serious Overload of Series discussion

Ick. Just spotted the "updated" book page with the different editions under the book's description and the "Readers Also Enjoyed" section moved to where the other editions used to be located. Not sure I like it. Although, I guess it does draw your eye to those books others enjoyed, but it'll definitely take some time for me to get used to it.

What do ya'll think of the remodel?

I'm not a fan of the changes. Other editions looks messy where it is now and the Readers Also Enjoyed section is too big.

I always have the "more details" open, so I can quickly access the series info. Because of that, the other editions are always seen. I don't like them listed there. You're right, Ames, they do look messy as is.

I would rather, if they insist on keeping them listed in the book detail, that they create another drop link for the other editions. If that makes sense. Hopefully enough people will rant about it and they'll modify it a bit more.

We'll see. Guess I'll eventually get used to it, like everything else.

Thanks so much for the feedback everyone. Some really good stuff here. We'll circle back with all this and see what we want to do. In general it came through loud and clear that the more details section is already cluttered and this just makes it worse. We'll take a look at it.

I reallllly hope that they change it based on some of the feedback. It looks cluttered to me right now and I have to scroll a long way just to see my review of a book. pthhhb :P

I do like that they've moved the other editions below the other add'l info. Hopefully other changes will follow to make it even better.

Oh, WTF? What is going on here? Is it just me or is the comment box at the top of the page for everyone? Please, please, pleeeease tell me they didn't do that on purpose. :/ I hate it. I don't like it on the member page and definitely don't like it on the group threads. No.no.no.

Yeah I'm not sure that's the best place to put the other editions. I personally think they should put them under the actual book cover bit, in the empty space there. Plus, you can't see many of the "other reader's enjoyed..." - three and a bit covers, and it's hard to scroll along. But that's only my personal opinion :P

I guess you're never going to please everyone and sometimes I feel sorry for the GR team LOL!

It's definitely not librarian user friendly.

I always used the other edition covers, which showed at least 6 others. Now we've got squibbly little shots way down below, because I've always got the more details open as well, like Steph.

Yeah, I agree, improvements to the way they have it is needed - and PDQ.

I'm not a fan of the new layout either. The book details section looks really chaotic now.

I used ad block plus to remove those covers - they were really bugging me!
