K.S.R. (kareyshane) | 77 comments Just thought I'd say hullo. My love of YA lit began when my fifth grade teacher read White Fang. The next year I read My Side of the Mountain and it forever changed me. I felt like the author knew who I was. It was an incredible realization to know I could be understood by a book . . . or at least the voice behind it.

And I noticed we have a few Maryland folks here. I was just in D.C. with my son for Spring break and I loved it! Luckee's!

K.S.R. (kareyshane) | 77 comments Thanks for the welcome, Lisa. And Laura, My Side of the Mountain is a Newbery book, so you'll likely love it. It's a fantastic coming of age story about a boy who runs away and lives in the wild. (It turns out I lived in Knowlton, Quebec, where part of the movie version takes place.) :)
