Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov. It's my first time reading Nabokov and I'm not sure whether I should start with Lolita instead.

I'm currently reading The Big Sleep and am surprisingly enjoying it.I'm finding it hard to imagine it being written so long ago as it seems quite modern for its time.

Just started 'A Room with a View / Howards End' (combined edition of those two works).

Reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel and enjoying more than I thought that I ever would. Nice surprise!
I think i might be the rare person that did not enjoy Life of Pi. I read about 100 pages and gave up!
I'm starting The Color Purple today. I believe I've read this before, but I don't really remember the book.

The debacle over whether Martel stole the idea from an earlier book is a real put off, among other things.

I can't really explain it, but it annoyed me to read it, and there's a big question at the end of the book that made me enjoy it even less... Still, everyone else I talk to seemed to enjoy it, so it's nice to know I'm not the only one who didn't.

Starting The Comfort of Strangers today by Ian McEwan.
The Crow Road by Iain Banks It's good so far, but I'm afraid nothing is "wowing" me in this novel yet. That's the thing with the majority of the books I've read from this list. They are good books, but I'm just not understanding what it is about them that make them MUST READS before I leave this earth.
Am about 60 pages into The Line of Beauty by Alan Hollinghurst. As with Samantha above OK so far but not really grabbing me. Hopefully it will do.
Bleak House by Charles Dickens. Four chapters in and I feel as if I should not be reading this on such sunny spring days. At this point I am wondering how many times the word "fog" has been used - I want to go back and do a word count!

Absolutely LOVED Middlemarch. I read it at the beginning of this year. Such a good book!
