The second book in the Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy,
"The Wife" I finished the first volume, The Wreath" a couple of months ago.

Started The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes last night. I'm working my way through all of the Sherlock Holmes stories, but this is the first book on the list. I've read most of them before, but that was a long time ago.

I'm reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse.

Started Silas Marner. I can't remember if I read it or if I am remembering what I saw from Wishbone. Even if I did, can't hurt to re-read.

About to start The Little Prince. And because that is so short I'll be starting Lord of the Flies soon after finishing it. I feel like I'm one of the few school kids in the UK that didn't have to read Lord of the Flies for their GCSEs.

About to read Gone With the Wind while I'm on vacation (and some books not on the list).

Started reading To kill a mockingbird yesterday, I've got high expectations as everyone thinks it's brilliant and I decided to go for something written in the 20th century as I found Wuthering heights (the last book I read) a bit too much hard work

Also going to listen to Catch-22. Taking a trip, so it'll be a great time to knock out some books!

Read the first chapter - 100% dialogue, banter about old romantic films. I'm digging it so far.

Recently the two audio books of Where Angels Fear to Tread and Howards End by E.M. Forster.

Very philosophical but for some reason don't mind it -- the narrator is smooth with a lilting voice.

started Nada by Carmen Laforet on audio. Set in Barcelona, it seems to have a bit of a DuMaurier vibe about it so far.

Started Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. Trying to read all the books I have in my bookcase before I buy more books. This is hard!

Currently reading The Mysteries of Udolpho

I'm halfway through with La Bête humaine by Émile Zola. It's my second book and I'm becoming quite addicted to this author, I'm loving his books! =)

I'm sorry Laura, I only saw your message now! Have you been able to read it so far? I liked better The Woman in White than The Moonstone. But just because there were some parts it seemed the author dragged and dragged the mystery without really adding important elements. But in general is a really good book, and the final: wow! completely unpredictable! Really worth the reading! =)

Picked up Night today at the 2nd hand store, along with this one: Vanity Fair, & The Idiot, so I am bouncing between list reads & "free" reads to keep me a bit more balanced.

Just started The sea by John Banville. The comments on the back said he was the heir of Nabokov. Since I don't have very fond memories of Nabokov, i was a bit apprehensive
But so far, it's very promising..

Starting Gone with the Wind today. I'm surprised I haven't read it yet, growing up in the South and all!

Started on audiobook by J.M. Coetzee -- strange narration with an equally strange protagonist but not hard to get into

Loved the movie, did not enjoy the book as much. The new wife rambles on and on and on!

I'm in the middle of At Swim Two Birds and really enjoying it so far. I'm also reading Cider with Rosie which is lovely. And I read a few pages into 1Q84, curious where this is leading.

I've just started The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins and I'll be picking up Chinua Achebe's African Trilogy (which includes 2 list books: 'Things Fall Apart' and 'Arrow of God') from the library this evening. Does anyone know why the list only includes two books from this trilogy when other trilogies have been listed as one book?

I would think because its not a proper trilogy, as in they don't follow the same set of characters, plot, etc? That's my best guess.

Started today Pale Fire by Vladimir Nabokov and I'm already loving it! =) very excited to see how this will continues from now on!

I just started Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. I adore it so far!

I started Crime and Punishment yesterday, I've got high hopes as it's got such good reviews, although I'm slightly nervous that I won't enjoy it as the last pre 20th century book I read was Wuthering Heights which I didn't enjoy at all and that the book is translated from Russian.

I just started Ghost At Noon by Alberto Moravia.
