Jazz- my first Toni Morrison and I should probably be reading Sula as that one is a group read. Still, they are both short so they shouldn't take me long

The Nun - Yet another book added to my overflowing stack. It's a library book though and I have quite a few of them that I have to finish and give back before I fly out of the country for a month.

I am reading The Summer Book. Looking forward to something less dark and "gothicky."

Just started Amsterdam - Ian McEwan

Today I started The sound of Waves.

Have begun reading Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton, my first read by this author.

Just started The Hours. I saw the movie years ago, so I kind of know what's going to happen, though I don't remember most of it.

I also have Lady Chatterley's Lover out from the library, which will probably be my next list book.

I started War and Peace so I'm settling in for the long haul.

Hi Dree, I watched the film Wise Blood not long ago and it was very weird. I think it was a direct telling from the book. I haven't read the book yet.

I have just started The Country Girls. This is an excellent break from The Brothers Karamazov, which I am making slow and steady progress on.

Waiting for the Dark, Waiting for the Light - written by (former) dissident Ivan Klima. It's supposed to be humorous but I'm not exactly finding it a chucklefest so far.

1Q84byHaruki Murakami I've very excited about starting this book. I purposefully tried not to learn too much about this book so I would go in with an open mind.

I started today Thousand Cranes by Yasunari Kawabata. I borrowed a few japanese author list books from the library, so after I finish this one I'll be reading Almost transparent blue by Ryū Murakami and After the Quake by Haruki Murakami.

Those are three very different books. I really liked Thousand Cranes. I gave it 4 stars. I haven't read Almost Transparent Blue but I have heard that is weird, with explicit sex and drug use. And I am not a huge Haruki Murakami fan. Happy reading! :)

I just read a few pages from Thousand cranes, and so far I like the book. :) Almost transparent blue wasn't something I was looking forward to, but I decided to read it anyway. I decided to read a few books from the japanese folder of the list. I think it will prepare me for another try of the book On the Road by Jack Kerouac. As for Haruki Murakami, it will be my first book by this author. I saw quite a few of his books on the list so I'm curious how they will be.

The 39 Steps - this one doesn't come in for a lot of love and the plot admittedly has so far been pretty ridiculous, but I'm listening to his wanderings in the Scottish hills while I'm out walking the dog and so far I'm enjoying it.

That's probably the case, but I got this from the library on audio. Unfortunately, it's the only one of his that they have available. If it's too difficult, I'll stop, buy V., and come back to it later.

I am starting The Once and Future King by White. I am looking forward to something a little less dark than Cormac McCarthy.

Started Surfacing yesterday, my first Atwood book. This seems to be one that a lot of people don't care for, but so far I'm enjoying it.

I just started a Handmaid's Tale. I've read mixed reviews. Lack of quotation marks doesn't bother me like it did some reviewers.

The Return of the King - the final book of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

To Kill a Mockingbird. Gosh... its about time I read this...

Lazarillo de Tormes--my library has exactly one copy in English, and I have it. Many many Spanish versions (mine is actually dual-language, it's weird to only read the right-side pages). Several kids' versions also (all in Spanish).

Last night I started The Art of Fielding. So far I like it and I'm really curious where it is leading.

Starting The Green Man today, which I thought was a List book, but when I do a group search for it not a lot comes up about this book? Either it's not actually on the list, or it's one that not a lot of people have read yet? I love ghost stories so I'm pretty excited to read it!

Started The Fellowship of the Ring. I know technically The Lord of the Rings is classed as one book on the list but I find extra long books a bit off putting, so I'd rather read the trilogy seperately

That is what I did as well. This way you can take a break between books if you need to.

Started The Unfortunate Traveller and Other Works. This is pretty short, but it's going to take me quite some time, the language is dense and not modern. I can only take about 3-5 pages at a time. It is definitely humorous so far.

It is on the list. I am currently reading it.

I've just started The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin and The Bell by Iris Murdoch both are first time authors for me. I'm enjoying them both, but finding The Bell a bit easier to read.
