Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments Late last year I self-published my first fantasy e-book, A Noble's Quest (rated 4.5 stars on Smashwords, and 5 stars on Amazon).

Blurb for A Noble's Quest:
Destitute, the Tamorran people struggle to survive while nobles live lavishly. However, one nobleman has discovered a terrifying secret. Using his vast wealth and personal connections, he creates plots within plots to unveil the truth. Follow the adventures of his spirited niece Eliza, and two fugitive peasants, Thomas and Sarentha, as they seek to complete the noble's enigmatic quest.

I have been hard at work on the sequel, A Wizard's Gambit, and as I come closer to the end of writing, I have been searching for options for editing. For A Noble's Quest, I had the book professionally edited, and took out a loan. However, I am unable to do so this time, and have started an Indiegogo campaign to try to raise the funds to edit the book.
Here is the link for the campaign:
http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a-w...

There are several donation levels, and pretty reasonable perks for each one.
$2 gets you two short story anthologies (The first being Dawn: A dwarven story of creation, and the second is not yet written, but I will be working on it as soon as A Wizard's Gambit is finished).
$5 gets you those, plus a copy of my first book A Noble's Quest
$10 gets you all the rest, plus a copy of A Wizard's Gambit before it officially goes on sale.
Then there are bigger packages for those who really enjoy my writing.
$100 earns you a lifetime of e-books. Everything I write, you get.
$500 adds signed paperback copies of my Empire's Foundation trilogy, once it is complete and I get professional cover art done for the books (I won't put them out for print before that happens).
$1000 gets you the following series of 4-5 books in paper back, signed, plus the original, one of a kind, hand drawn map used in A Noble's Quest, signed, with a note of thanks for the incredibly generous support.

I honestly don't expect anyone to go for the biggest packages. I've just seen a lot of other fundraisers with lofty donation points, so figured I'd throw them in, just in case.

But if any of those look like enticing packages to you, please donate. Even a couple dollars is helpful, as I WILL be getting the book edited... it's just a matter of when, depending on funds.

Even if you can't donate, feel free to share the link with friends who you think may be interested in my writing!

If you've gotten this far, thanks in advance for your support! I appreciate any and all help I can get!

Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments After receiving a request for medium donation tiers, I have added a $25 and $50 level!

$25 - add a poster sized print of the cover art for A Noble's Quest, once it is created by Harvey Bunda.

$50 - all three e-books from the Empire's Foundation trilogy, plus all short story anthologies I create in the meantime, and all three posters for the entire trilogy. This one is a steal!

Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments I am excited to announce that I found an editor who is less expensive than my previous one. She received all glowing references from authors she has previously worked with, so I'm officially switching over to RJ Blain.

Because of this change, I have been able to restructure my fundraising campaign, and am closer to reaching my goal for editing! If I go over my initial amount, I have stretch goals to get professional cover art done for A Noble's Quest, A Wizard's Gambit, and A Hero's Birth (as well as editing for the third book, which I'm hoping to have out next year!).

Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments I want to thank everyone who has donated to my campaign, whether by giving money, purchasing A Noble's Quest, or sharing the news.
I am at 1/3rd of my total goal, which has covered the costs of editing! I'm nearly finished writing my first draft, and the editor is ready to start on September 1st, so it should be available well before Christmas.

I'm now into stretch goals for the campaign, and nearly have enough raised to do a professional cover for A Noble's Quest! Here is a description of what I hope to have created:

A small human force bursts into a clearing surrounded by tall trees on all sides. The camp is crawling with goblins attacking our heroes, and the humans bravely assault any green-skinned foe they meet. In the chaos, Eliza Winston, with raven curls flowing, framing her beautiful face with slanted green eyes, approaches a fallen goblin shaman draped in animal furs. A battle axe is embedded in his shoulder, where it pounded through his chest cavity, killing him instantly. With cool efficiency she pulls silver wire rimmed goggles with emerald lenses off the shaman's head, her crossbow ready in her other hand in case any goblins try to stop her. She surveys the battlefield calmly, content in their imminent victory.

Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments I'm over half way funded, and just need a bit more to reach my stretch goal of getting professional artwork done for my sequel! I just finished the first draft, and am working at proofreading it before sending it off for editing.

Here's an ad I came out with:

You've got $2 burning a hole in your pocket, and you're wondering, "Should I go out and get a coffee, or support an indie author?"

That's a tough call. Here's my pitch:
Maybe you've already had 4 cups today? Studies show more than that could lead to an early grave. In contrast, $2 to my Indiegogo campaign will get you several short stories to read, which may help increase your smarts. Maybe you'll learn a new word, or think of something in a slightly different way.

Do you have hypertension? In that case, that coffee could be raising your blood pressure. However, reading can reduce stress. High blood pressure, or feeling more relaxed? Easy choice!

It's getting late somewhere... maybe where you are. That coffee could lead to symptoms mimicking insomnia! But reading actually increases feelings of tranquility, and I know a good book can knock me out at bed time.

Drinking coffee has been linked to decreased fertility in women. Yeah... yet a poorly written rag like 50 Shades of Grey has baby onesies that say, "9 months ago my mommy read 50 Shades of Grey." So if you're trying, drop that coffee and support a writer.

If you still want that coffee, go ahead and get your caffeine fix. If you want something that will last longer than the brief relief you feel from appeasing your drug addiction, the $2 perk for my Indiegogo campaign is some short stories I have already written, plus another upcoming piece I'm hoping to have out later this year, or early next year.

Ryan Toxopeus | 15 comments With a week left in the campaign, I have already sent A Wizard's Gambit off for editing, thanks to those who have donated to my campaign!

Also, because of the incredible generosity during my campaign, I am over half way to my goal, and almost to the point where I will be able to release my sequel with a professional cover. I've already inked the new map with the expanded territory explored throughout A Wizard's Gambit, and will be preparing a youtube video soon with a reading from the book's prologue (There's also a Youtube video of me reading the prologue from A Noble's Quest, if you're interested)

If you like Epic Fantasy, please either take a look at A Noble's Quest on Smashwords or Amazon, or help by directly donating to the campaign! There are some great perks, so if you're interested in reading the book, you can get more for your money!
