But other than that it is definitely a worthwhile read, the battle scenes are generally spectacular and the amount of detail and knowledge that goes into them are really nice. I had to google quite a few armor-related words just to get what the hell the author was talking about.

Yes, I read your reply. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I enjoy the writing but the unexplained oddities (like bears that can wield daggers) was throwing me for a loop and I wasn't sure if it was worth continuing.
Considering reading the tome that is the red knight by miles cameron
penny for your thoughts....is it worth my time reading this monster?? Does it have promise as a series or what?
