Killing the Dead is the second story in my "Assassin Without a Name" series of shorts. It's around 5000 words/20 pages and is free on Smashwords for what's left of July (use coupon code SW100 at checkout).

Some say the dead should stay dead. Not everyone agrees.

The priests purged one of their own with holy fire. Now they need the Assassin Without a Name to finish the job. In this short tale, an assassin is hired to kill the already dead.

I'm bumping this one too because they are both good short stories worthy of a look.

This one is longer and more complete in its plot arc. It does a great job of adding complexity to a character that could have been a flat stereotype with a nifty obsession with wine. (view spoiler)[ I really like the implication of redemption at the end. It sets up so much potential for this character...but you really have to give me something to call him other than AWaN...lol. (hide spoiler)]

He may get a name at some point, but it won't be his real one. ;-)

Thanks again for the nice comments. I'm going to try to reveal a bit more about the character with each new story. Just need to get to writing the next one!
