ChameleonRose (Jessica) (ChameleonRose) | 9 comments This is a stupid question. Yes there is a lot of physical stuff in their relationship but if it was just teenage lust why would they put themselves through everything they've been through. I mean personally if I wasn't absolutely positive I loved some one I would not do over half the things they did for each other. Yes, I can also see where your friend is coming from but really it would have to be love for all they've been through.

Tanaz Masaba (tanazmasaba) I agree with Jessica...I am a huge Clary fan because I actually understand her (yeah i guess im a stupid impulsive teen too) but thats not the reaso why...think about it: Clary always chose Jace over everything. She asked for Jace when he died whereas she could have asked for anything else in the world, she gave up her friends family and everything and went parading after him so that she could rescue him. Yeah its true that they have known each other for a short time...even Izzy brought that up and questioned Clary's feelings for him in CoG...but then again Tessa didn't really know much of Will when she fell in love with him? I guess that's the beauty of these books--they make you believe in things that are not possible in real life.

Tanaz Masaba (tanazmasaba) Oh and one more thing I almost forgot: Clary wasn't really having fantasies about possessed Jace...she just understood that the possessed Jace wasn't completely a different person--he was a bit of the real Jace that we love mixed with a bit of an evil Jace that we don't want to see

411Junkie | 13 comments As someone who is in their late twenties, reading a young adult series about teenage love, I just have to weigh in on this and say that I do believe Clary and Jace love each other. Yes, there is physical attraction, but I believe it goes further than that. They both understand each other. And it seems as if they understand each other on a level that no one else can see or understand.

Elizabeth (elizabethcordo) I do think that Clary and Jace love each other, but I am constantly thinking about what Jocelyn said about them not being right for each other. Possible foreshadowing? I don't know...

message 6: by Kenni (new)

Kenni I believe they love each other, but I think Cassandra Clare saw that she was going overboard with how they acted around each other. In the end of CoLS Jace and Clary can't be passionate because of his angle burning thing. I think since Clary is willing to be with him even if they can't kiss that means she really loves him. I've never been in love, so I don't know, but I have to believe in them.

Rossy | 47 comments I agree with Kenni on how Cassie made the angel-burning thing in order to show that their feelings go a lot further than lust. i think that this question will be answered in CoHF because we'll see how they act around each other when they cant seriously touch or kiss. honestly, i think theyll pull through because there's just something about them and the way they understand each other that goes further than the regular lustful relationship

Kaylah Eiramenna Carrell (wearebutdustandshadow) | 117 comments you know that whole angel-fire-burning-inside-him thin confuses me...I mean, if they both have angel blood in them, like the extra, you would think the heavenly fire wouldn't really effect either of them right?

I mean, in CofLS he didn't want to touch her cuz he was hurting everyone else, so we dont really know yet if Clary can be hurt by it...
anybody elses thought hit this question yet?

I ship Clace, but I never thought about this before.
So maybe, part of their love is just wild, passionate love.
But the world doesn't revolve around them only.
So this means, maybe if they did 'IT', Jace (maybe) will leave Clary,
For someone else.

Taylor11 | 14 comments Does anyone notice that whenever makeout+ scenes are described every little curve and muscle and whatever of Jace is mentioned, but clary never seems to notice his boner? I mean you can't make out with a guy especially if you are laying on him and not notice it. And it's impossible for it not to be there.

Idk. I just thought that was odd that it was never mentioned in the overly detailed descriptions. Not once ever.

Allison Janezic (allilj) | 120 comments LOLOL Taylor trust me you are not the only one who noticed that was left out and yes it would be very hard to ignore. No pun intended.

Julia Griffis - The Romance Bibliophile (theromancebibliophile) @Taylor11 I believe Cassandra left those parts out because she knew that a younger age group would be reading it, so she didn't want to make it dirty by going into detailed descriptions of naughty bits.

I think that Cassandra emphasizes on the sentimental part more, instead of two teenagers just having sex. Of course Clary would pay attention to this, but probably Cassandra shows the fact that they are in love everything is around this. Also I don't think that Cassandra cares about the age of their readers since she has a gay couple and a brother who wants to have sex with his sister :P

T.J. | 111 comments I found the series started off strongly, but dwindled down and a big part of that was due to Jace and Clary's escalation of physical intimacy rather than an emotional one. Maybe their feelings could not be expressed very well in words and they...kissed a lot and stuff because in the most recently released book, they didn't have much time for words and might have chosen to tell each other how much they mean to one another by physical intimacy. Then again, testosterone flying about and a girl's hormonal bats could be the inspiration of making out all...the...time.

The first three books were awesome. They kissed, sure, but it wasn't the kiss-me-before-you-say-anything moments that the 5th book held.

So do they love each other? Well, depends on how you see the characters change. Jace changed and became more vulnerable and as we all know Jace, it's hard to crack that self-loving armor of his.

And Clary did.

He also made her stronger and as I recall, he pissed her off in the beginning of the series unlike Romeo and Juliet's "love at first sight."
....More like first glance.

Anyway, yes. I believe they love each other but in order for Cassie to bring that back, she will have to make the two characters connect on that verbal and communicative level that they had been on before in the past few books.

This one lost it.

Cassie has to bring that back.

Christie (CJ838) | 50 comments Yes they love each other they just have a different way of showing their feelings because they are both a bit damaged.
- Jace has been fighting for everything he knows as a shadow hunter. He was brought up with weapons and a father who says to love is to be weak. So Jace bumps into Clary who is "the one" and he fights the love. He tries hard to dismiss it. So all their heated make out sessions are hidden emotions come to the surface. It's big scary love for Jace. Plus he doesn't really know what to do with it as he hasn't had any good examples of love.
- Jace is everything Clary has never known but always been secretly searching for. He has been living the life she was supposed to. She of course delves into this secret life full on and into Jace. She is excited and seeing everything finally for the first time. And she knew something was missing with her boring mundane life. It wasn't enough for her. So she has all these new feelings about her new life and Jace is running parallel with it. It's natural they would collide, everything in, no reservations. As much as Jace tries to deny.
