Jenny and I are starting a buddy read of on Saturday, July 27th!

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed.

This book is on my to-read list, but I haven't bought it yet. I hope you enjoy it! I have heard some great things about this book already.

It's on sale on Kindle for $1.99 which is why I scooped it up, Lolita. ;-)

It's not on sale for me, it's really strange I've have heard people say often books are on sale but then when I check they aren't. I think it has something to do with me not living in the US, some sales I also see, but for some books not. In this case I have to pay $4.83 for it :(.

Okay, I'm at 37%. I'm liking it so far, I just can't imagine it. Crazy stuff! What's so killer is how realistic it all is. I'm not having trouble imaging any of this at all!

I just browsed the first couple pages. I'll read more when I head to bed. Although I knew it was written as a journal, I had forgotten about that.

49% in. (view spoiler)[I really have no new comments as there is no NEW action. Each day/week/month is just a little worse. At this point, no one is coming together as a community which I find odd. It's still every family for themselves. Also, no villains, no heroes... Just realistic. Weird. But I am drawn in! If something like this really happened...? I think I'd be screwed... (hide spoiler)]

I know I'm not technically in this buddy read, but this was EXACTLY how I felt the first time I tried to read this book Karen, and I had to stop 'cause I got a little too freaked out, lol.

That's the thing about this book - it's not non-stop action or huge events changing things. It's just a slow descent into the apocalypse. You'd think that would make it drag, throw the pacing off. But I never felt like that. Nothing was earth shattering, really. Just a great character study.

Okay, I'm 54% in. I really don't have any spoilers to add,either, and I agree completely with you, Karen. This book is scaring me, its so realistic! I'm starting to get really worried. Oh I do have one spoiler to mention (view spoiler)[ the part when Miranda's dad left...that was heartbreaking for me, the thought that she would never see him again....tearing up again... (hide spoiler)]

I'm not sure its missing anything...but its definitely making me feel uncomfortable and a little freaked...maybe that's what you didn't like. I'm also really drawn in to the story, and what the heck is going to go wrong next! But I will leave final judgement until I finish.

I thought I would also mention, my 16 year old read this book last year, and she didn't really like it. She said it was too boring, lol. She likes lots of action or creepiness to her books.

59%... (view spoiler)[Just never ending slow descent into the apocalypse. Why aren't they trading or working together? It's apparent the world has changed, so why are they still thinking of studying French and History? I'd be picking up every survival book possible and home schooling in that. They have the Dad's letters and know the government is gone, and the police is gone... With gangs now out there, I'd be working on weapons..!

I think that because I was so engrossed, I really liked this one. It was depressing, and no action, but I was completely pulled in and that's what I want when I'm reading. I want to lose track of time, and have no clue how much book is left to read. I give this one a solid 4 stars!

Lol! I founds parts of it realistic, but other parts not so much :)

I just started this book for another challenges so why not talk about it here! :) I will try my hardest to catch up and read spoilers. So far I like it.

I loved this book. It's probably the one that got me started in this genre, that and Hunger Games :)

I'm about 50% into the book and I am really enjoying the story. I love the way it's being told which does make it seem more realistic like many others have said. I can see all the events in the book happening if there was a tragic disaster like the one in the book.

Lets see if my views change once I have finished the book. :)
