Alex Tveit (vikingabroad) | 33 comments So, I am about to try to get into this series for the third time. I really like King's writing usually (with a few misses to note), but I have never been able to get into the Dark Tower. I have talked to several people that think the first book is tough, but then the series gets really really good.

Anyone have similar experience? Hate it/Love it?

Jennifer | 185 comments I started listening to it years ago on disc and gave it up quickly. I recently found most of the series at a Library Sale, so I have plans to try again.
I have heard that it is better with other King books under your belt, since many of his books carry the same characters and storylines.

Kate (kateward) I adore those I've read so far. I received the first 3 for Christmas and had finished them by the end of January. next three cam for mother's day. I bought 'Keyhole' for myself to bridge the gap and I'm holding off picking up 7 until I need it as a kind of ceremonial thing.

I have reviewed them all, but I adored Drawing of Three and Wasteland (I want an Oy) thought Gunslinger was a great intro, but...I really didn't like Wizard and Glass. Great opening, great end, but the entire flashback sequence left me cold.
I know it's the most divisive of the saga for fans and I'm not surprised.
