Ultimately, though I found Hemmingway to be an apologist for his own inadequacies.

Kai Coates (southernbohemian) I generally love Hemingway, but I hated this book. Like most people who try to explain their passion, Hemingway goes on and on long after I stopped caring. I think the book is a bit of a mess - part travelogue, part natural history, part sports, part biography. I found sections of it quite interesting and informative, but he gets bogged down in minute details. The part I actually liked the most was the random part of Chapter 12 where he starts talking about war experiences.
