well as the title says i'm looking for books similar to the temeraire novels sorry for not being more precise.

Master and Commander 20 Volume Set by Patrick O'Brian

And CS Foresters novels...very similar in flavor (no dragons however..)

It's true; you wouldn't be far off characterizing the Temeraire books as "Patrick O'Brian meets the Dragonriders of Pern." :)

Which says that if it's the dragons you love, go on to McCaffrey immediately. If it's that whole British Navy thing, head off to Forester and O'Brian. You might also consider Scott Westerfeld's GOLIATH trilogy, which has a military corps, a war, and a big old wad of steampunk.

My friend gave me 2 of the 3 GOLIATH books just the other day I have yet to read them. Dragonriders of Pern looks fun and interesting I'll have to check them out.

I actually enjoyed the GOLIATH trilogy a lot. :) A bit too YA though for my taste, but still very interesting.
