Arabella Thorne (arabella_thornejunocom) | 23 comments And CS Foresters novels...very similar in flavor (no dragons however..)

Margaret | 428 comments It's true; you wouldn't be far off characterizing the Temeraire books as "Patrick O'Brian meets the Dragonriders of Pern." :)

message 6: by Brenda (new)

Brenda Clough (brendaclough) | 964 comments Which says that if it's the dragons you love, go on to McCaffrey immediately. If it's that whole British Navy thing, head off to Forester and O'Brian. You might also consider Scott Westerfeld's GOLIATH trilogy, which has a military corps, a war, and a big old wad of steampunk.

message 7: by Nigel (new)

Nigel Mouto (quatre) | 6 comments My friend gave me 2 of the 3 GOLIATH books just the other day I have yet to read them. Dragonriders of Pern looks fun and interesting I'll have to check them out.

E.J. (ejschoenborn) | 36 comments I actually enjoyed the GOLIATH trilogy a lot. :) A bit too YA though for my taste, but still very interesting.
