Michelle | 1 comments Me and my boyfriend have watched all of the seasons of Dexter and continue to as the show concludes. I was looking into the books to see if I would enjoy reading them but found a lot of mixed reviews. I realize that there are some great differences between the show and books, but was wondering if people would recommend the books to people who have been watching the show.

✿ ♥ Heather ♥ ✿ (frangiegal) Hi Michelle I've watched all Seasons too. I'm waiting until this final one is near the end though before starting.

I too wonder how the books are but I personally think the show is fab & there's just not enough time in the day to read all the books I want to get read (and continue to add) on my TBR let alone read something I'd be constantly trying to compare to what I've seen.

Has anyone just read the books? What are they like ?

the books were not as well written as the tv series.

I have just watched the next-to-the-last episode of Dexter. I'm going to miss this show, which I love. My ultimate ending would be for Dexter and Harrison to stay in Miami and Debra can work along side Dexter, Dexter doing the killing, of course. I just don't want to be disappointed by the ending, like I was with The Sopranos.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments I, too, hope the finale isn't disappointing. You know, the one I have the most compassion for isn't Dexter, but Deb. She's compromised everything she believes in for him, and he wants to run off with a cute killer. Dexter doesn't have the sensitivity to see what she's feeling. I almost hope she turns him in and raises Harrison herself. It seems to be the only way she'll be able to live with herself and have some happiness.

I think Deb loves Dexter so much that it would kill her more to turn him in. I like seeing her back with Quinn.

I'm with you there. I actually hope he kills himself (he is a killer of serial killers, after all) on his boat, falls into the water, and sinks down to where the rest of his bodies were dumped. He could take Quinn with him for all I care about that character. Funny thing is, I didn't like Deb at first, but now it's definitely all about her.

I've grown very fond of Dexter. I don't want him dead or in jail.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments What did you guys think about the series finale?

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I have mixed feelings. At first I thought I hated it, but at the completion of the show, I guess I was satisfied. I really enjoyed every season, some more than others, and I will miss the show. My husband didn't like what happened regarding Deb, but I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't watched it yet.

Beth (beth150) I loved this show for many years but this now tops the worse show final EVER! for me...I didnt like (well I wont say no more for those that didnt see yet) but I will say it was alllll the wrong way round...all aboard the fail boat!

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

at least they left us with the possibility of a return for Dexter. who knows, maybe a movie or a special in a few years.

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Ward, I have heard rumors that they may do a Dexter movie down the road. I would miss all the usual characters but I think it would be really interesting after watching the final minute or so of the show.

"Dexter's Chainsaw Massacree"? Isn't that the way it all started, after all?

message 17: by Lu (new)

Lu (luul) Having watched it last night, I am still not sure what to think.
I think a movie would round things up nicely, but at the same time i think the last series was really quite weak and I think maybe it is better left alone.

I am going to miss it though, definitely one of the best series on tv for a long time.

Well, he was doing some logging . . .

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 1438 comments Hadn't thought about that. Appropriate setting for Dexter. I didn't like the ending for Deb, and I'll miss Angel. He was a favorite.

I told my husband that even though they could do a movie later on, it just wouldn't be the same with Dexter not being in Miami with everybody else. It takes the entire cast to make a show great for me.
