A World Without Sun discussion

She tried to wiggle away, "now Conor."

((Kk. They meet at school?))

He huffed and let her go.

She nodded, "stay," she ordered and went back to get Alex. She found him and hugged him, "are you alright!?"

"fine." he muttered rubbing his brusied jaw.

She frowned, "I'm sorry..."

"not your fault." he said and looked around "where is he?"

"Waiting by the bikes, were going home.. Okay?" She started leading him.

He shook her off. "I'll walk."

Annabelle flinched, "Alex.." Her chest squeezed, "he's been drinking.. He didn't mean it.."

"he means it. He always does." Alex told her sadly and started off in the opposite direction.

She gasped and fallowed, "you can't just go!"

He sighed and stopped, "Annabelle...."

"What..?" She had a feeling this was going to turn out bad, "please just come back with us.. You and I can go somewhere after.."

He shook his head. He didn't deserve to be around her if he could give keep her or himself safe. "I'll take you home."

"But you promised you mom.. We should at least call a cab for Connor."

he sighed, "fine. I've to take the bikes back anyway."

She nodded relieved, "we'll bring him go then I'll take you out, okay?"

Alex stayed quiet for awhile. "fine."

Annabelle took his hand and kissed his bruised jaw lightly.

He smiled a bit. "feels better already."

She giggled, "good," she led him back to Connor and got on one of the bikes, "let's go."

The twins regarded each other in silence.
"get a cab." Alex told his brother at last and got on the other bike.

Annabelle looked at Connor sadly, "please," she added and they waited for the can before driving back to their house.

Tyler helped Cindy over a fallen log, "Which way?"

Cindy looked up at the apartment building then pointed in the direction she had been looking from her balcony, "that way."

"Lead the way."

She nodded and walked in the direction, stepping on branches and dead leaves. They walked for almost an hour before Cindy say the green. She gasped and broke into a sprint.

"Cindy." Tyler frowned at her for running off and chased after her.

Cindy ran until she came face to face with the tree. She stopped in her tracks. The tree hardly had brown on it. The bark was covered in green miss and the branches were covered with bright leaves. Cindy looked at it in amazement, awe, and her inner tree hugger surfaced, "oh. My. God.."

Tyler stopped and looked up at the tree, "How is that possible?"

Cindy shook her head, not taking her wide eyes off the tree, "I don't know... But it's beautiful."

Tyler nodded, staring at the tree.

Cindy heard a twig snap and gasped. She grabbed Tyler's hand and dragged him behind another tree to hide.

A scientist and the mayor walked to the tree.
"Did you get what you needed?" The mayor asked.
The scientist nodded.
The mayor nodded, "kill it, the last thing we need is the people getting hope," the mayor walked off.
The scientist took a vial and pored black liquid on the tree's riots. The scientist watched as the tree started drying. When the tree was half dead, the scientist left.
Cindy had to lean on one of the other trees for balance.

Tyler held Cindy up, worried she might faint. "We need to get back to your apartment." he said softly.

Cindy squeaked, "th-they killed it," tears ran down her cheeks.

Tyler wiped her eyes, "Breathe, Cindy." he needed to calm down, who knew if they could hear them or not.

She nodded and tried taking deep breaths, on the verge of hyperventilating, "let's go," she tried walking.

Tyler helped her walk and may sure he was blocking her view of the dying tree.

Cindy sniffled and started walking back to the apartment.

"It'll raise too many questons. Beside the public is more likely to hurt the trees more than the scientists." Zane stated

Az shook her head, "I don't believe that," she stated and climbed up one of the trees, bit carding that she was wearing a dress. The tree bloomed and a couple apples started growing.

Zane smiled at her and picked one of the apples, "I've read the stories."

"Have you ready Johnny Appleseed? He cared about trees. He planted hundreds," she smiled down at him from the branch she was sitting on.

Zane laughed, "So that's who you are Johanna Appleseed."

Azel laughed and relief they didn't know each other's names. Maybe it was better that way. "Not exactly," she smiled more. She didn't mind her future, she got to help people, in a way."

"Well that's what I'm going to call you." he said taking a bite out of the apple.
