Shirley | 4177 comments I've based my challenge on reading a few more classics, including books I've been meaning to read for ages!

A Portrait of the Artist As a Young Man by
James Joyce
Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
The House of Mirth by Edith Wharton
A Room with a View by E.M. Forster
Cider With Rosie by Laurie Lee
If Nobody Speaks of Remarkable Things by Jon McGregor
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The Twelve by Justin Cronin
The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
Total 10 books

Five books from BBC Book Challenge List:
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro
On the Road by Jack Kerouac

Five books from 1001 books to read before you die list:
The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes
The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
Beloved by Toni Morrison
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
Mrs. Dalloway by virginia woolf currently reading

That's 20 fiction books.

I would also like to read 5 non-fiction books - but haven't decided on these yet!!

From my "real" book club - I will read around 10 or more during 2013 but I don't know what these will be yet!

Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

That's 35 in total and I read around a book a week, which gives me enough scope to read as many as possible of the group reads during 2013

From Perks group reads for 2013, I already own the following, so will make them part of my 2013 challenge:

Half of a Yellow Sun
Boy: Tales of Childhood
My Dear I Wanted to Tell You
Their Eyes Were Watching God
The Blind Assassin (Author Challenge)

I also have The King's Speech: How One Man Saved the British Monarchywhich I am determined to read!

That would be fine with me. I have been told that it is much easier to read than Ulysses so I am determined to read it.

Leslie, a readalong for Their Eyes were watching
God sounds good to me!

I have tried reading Cold Comfort Farm once before but didn't get very far with it, so I want to try again, especially since most people I know have told me it's good.
