Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments Is it possible to search a librarian's editing log? I remember working on a series of books about a day ago, but the way the system counts changes means there have been many pages of edits since that time. Instead of slogging through them, I'd really like to just search for the title or what-have-you.

Thanks!

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Cyn, Do you mean your log or another specific librarian's log? If so, go to the member's profile page and the Goodreads librarian that shows up under their stats is a link. If you click on that, all that member's edits will show. If you mean all edit, go to explore to people to top librarians then to recent librarian edits. I hope these instructions help.

Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments Just my log. I know how to view it, but I want to search within the log instead of paging through the many, many pages to try finding something manually.

Ctrl-F on each page helps a little.

Lobstergirl Another question about the librarian edit log: why does it sometimes not exist, even on books that have clearly been edited? Like a book that has been NABBED but there are zero edits listed.

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments The Not a Book profile has been mistakenly merged with ... some other profile twice in the past several months. All the books, or, er, not a books disappeared. Rivka was able to perform some sort of special magic and get them back but much (not all to make it even more mysterious)of the editing history disappeared.

Lobstergirl Ah, I see. I thought it must be something along those lines.

♥Xeni♥ (xeni) | 41 comments Well, what about certain books that were "created"? For instance Holden and Yves – The Early Years has no change log, including no information of who created the book.

I am interested to contact the person who added this book to the database... is there another way to figure out who it was?

Book creation isn't given in the log: it's given on the edit page in the "source" field. If a book was manually entered by a GR user, a link to that user's profile will be in this field; otherwise, it will link to the source of the book on the feeder website (Amazon or B&N) from whence it came.

Amy 0671708473 is the isbn for a book which has its title spelled wrong AND the author, too!!!

I hope someone will fix it.

1.The book is What Could a Hippopotamus Be? (Hippopotamus is spelled wrong on GoodReads).
2.The author is Mike Thayer (Thayer is spelled wrong on GoodReads.)
3. The illustrator is Robert Grossman, and he should be added as illustrator.

Thank you for your help!

Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Amy, I've made the changes to the book -- thanks for catching that. I've combined it with the book "What Can a Hippopotamus Be?" on the basis of similar names and identical descriptions; do you know if that's correct?

(In general, could you start a new thread in the Book Issues folder for a book which needs these sorts of fixes? That keeps the older discussion threads from being cluttered. Thanks!)

Amy Thanks, Cait. I am still finding my way around on GR, and couldn't figure out where to post my problem.
