Jenny, David and I are starting a buddy read of on Friday, August 9th. (Some of us have started a bit early though... ;-D Ha!)

This buddy read is open to everyone who would like to join us!! There are no set chapters per day, we just read at our own paces and start each post with how far along you are, i.e., Chapter #, %, using spoilers where needed.

I downloaded this tonight and peeked at the first chapter and got sucked right in. No wonder you started early, David! (view spoiler)[I've been waiting for what happened to the adults from day 1 of reading this series! So excited he opens this book with that! So the glimpse we had earlier was real? I hope, I hope! 3% in. Finished Chapter 1 so far. ;-)

Eep! Thanks for setting up the thread Karen! Yeah, I loved the first chapter!!! What a tease! This series is like a familiar warm blanket, it's so easy to get back into.

I'm at 11% and I agree (view spoiler)[ about Astrid. It makes so much sense why she would do this and if I were her would probably do the same thing. And little Pete is not only no longer autistic, he doesn't have a body!!? (hide spoiler)]

Michael Grant has a crazy insane imagination to come up with these ideas he has. And I'm only 11% into this book. I can feel this is going to be quite the ride!! AGAIN...!

I know, right? CRAY CRAY! And what about (view spoiler)[ How little Pete can do weird things to his "avatars"? He seems to actually be killing them, like accidentally. Pretty gruesome! (hide spoiler)]

That's what I mean about Grant's cray cray imagination. Where does he come up with these ideas?? He's blowing my mind... again!

And what craziness is coming up with Diana's baby? And the missles? And someone needs to do away with Penny. She's as twisted and evil as Drake. (hide spoiler)]

Omg yes yes yes! All of that was insane, this book is not holding back at all! I'm at 25%, what about (view spoiler)[ Mary and Francis and the j waves? So those that die in the FAYZ get all messed up when they're spewed out the other side. Freaking weird!! (hide spoiler)]

Okay, sorry I haven't been keeping up on my comments! I have been reading! I'm at 59%. I read all your comments, and agree completely with the craziness, but so far, I'm just thrilled the bugs are GONE! (Sorry, those were SO GROSS!!!!) (view spoiler)[ Okay, things have gotten even more insane! I do not like Penny, but I thought it was funny--like in ironic--that she decided to encase Caine's hands in cement. I almost feel sorry for the boy now! I can't believe Albert ran off!!! What a pathetic leader! So far in this book, I'm liking Sam and Astrid the best--things seem to have come full circle in that way. I'm really concerned with Diana's baby--what it is, and if The Darkness gets ahold of it! WOOT, WOOT, Lana! I just love her! And same goes for Quinn--he always seems to be the one stepping up with things get bad! (hide spoiler)]

Hahahaa Jenny. You've been obsessed with (view spoiler)[those bugs for awhile now. I'm glad they're gone too. They WERE horrifying though! But now, we have kids being turned inside out (did I read that right?), kids being merged with coyotes, kids tearing out their own eyes and eating them(? - is that what I think Cigar said)... Let alone whatever is going on with the dome turning black and the army about to nuke it.

I'm with you, David. Why did Mary get back to the real world so mangled? Did the first kids that popped out get mangled like that? I didn't get that impression. Same with Francis. What happened to them?

And that's kind of wild to find out that Caine and Sam may not have the same father. I like that we're getting to find out what's going on in the world outside the dome.

Like you, Jenny, I'm loving Quinn and Lana in this book. Even Astrid. Why do they keep letting Penny live though? She's one psychotic biotch. Wow!

And then there's Albert and the missles. No good is going to come from that situation! (hide spoiler)]

There's no end to the cray cray in this series. Michael Grant just tops himself book after book.

Yeah, Karen, there is still an ick factor, but its the kind I can deal with! Bugs are my achilles heel! That may have been what ruined BZRK for me as well!

UGH...Drake and Penny....I'm not sure why they haven't just killed these two. So many missed opportunities! I don't advocate murder, but there comes a point where it is necessary!
Edilio being gay totally came from left field! How come this wasn't brought to our attention sooner??? I would really like a chapter or two from Edilio's POV. He's so awesome! (hide spoiler)]

Jenny, you finished! I've been playing around on social media! Whoopsies... I'm behind on my reads.

Yup, I finished a little while ago, but I haven't left any comments yet--it was the last day of my readathon, so I've been reading almost nonstop the last 7 hours! I loved it, the ending was INSANE!! I really just want to pick up Light and finish it!

Finally got to 81%. (view spoiler)[So many things going on right now, it's like I don't know where to look. Nuclear bombs (I think it would strengthen the dome.) Petey communicating w/Astrid through Cigar. Dekka, Orc, Drake, Penny, Diana, Sam... I agree about Penny and Drake. Why oh why did they not get rid of those two when they had a chance. Happy for Edilio if everything works out. Glad he found someone. I figured out that he was gay earlier in the book. (hide spoiler)]

I've got a rough work week this week and won't get much reading or anything else done either. :(

LOL thanks guys, got no sleep last night, coughing non stop. Unfortunately that meant Adele didn't either, felt terrible about that :( Hanging in there and taking antibiotics now so hopefully that will help. I'll try the garlic and pasta suggestions too haha!

I finally finished today. I was at freaking 95% last night and fell asleep! What the heck?!

I took a quick break today and finished. Finally!

Another epic read in this series!! I have a question. I may have missed this part though. (view spoiler)[So the nuke went off, right, and caused the dome to strengthen and turn transparent? Or did it? Did I miss something? I think that was about the time I fell asleep. If the nuke went off, why were the adults not disintegrated outside of the dome?

And did Sam not have any affect on Gaia when he was burning her? Between falling asleep and then having only a few minutes to finish today, I had to kind of skim read. (hide spoiler)]

I'll be back in a day or so with more thoughts on this one after I've had time to contemplate a bit. But loved it!

I was wondering the same thing, feeling better David? I hope so, sucks being sick, especially while traveling!

Karen (view spoiler)[ I think one of the theories would be that the dome would absorb the energy from the bomb--and it appears that's what happened. I don't think Sam affected Gaia because Gaia is connected to the energy of the dome--so she is much stronger now than Sam. (hide spoiler)]

70% now!! Isn't it funny how Michael Grant manages to make the story's climax last for more than half the book? Lol I love that !! So freaking good, so much happening! Penny is completely wooloo! Ugh poor Jack, he finally tried to be the hero and...

FINISHED!!! Un-freaking-believable!! LOVED it more than any of them, I think because of the "Outside" scenes too, so cool! We really need to try to get Michael Grant to do a Q&A for our buddy read of Light, which I already bought, by the way! Anyone else want to help me stalk him?

Sidenote: I've convinced Hugh Howey to participate in a Q&A about Wool Omnibus! Woot woot!!!

OK, back to Fear. Not sure what else to say that you all haven't said already. The characters are so complex, so deranged, so perfect, I really have nothing else to say, except I love love love it!

Oh wait, so did the nuclear bomb actually have an impact? Like did it cause the glass to turn transparent? That was the only thing I didn't get, because I thought the gaiphage did that? But maybe it was the bomb?

I think it was both--the dome was dark because THe Darkness was losing its power--but the bomb gave it full energy--so I think because it was reborn with all this energy, that's what made the dome transparent. That was my take on it, anyways.

YAY, so glad you loved it David, Fear was definitely the best book of the series so far! I also have my copy of Light, I got an ARC from another blogger awhile ago!

Did we want to read Light next weekend? Or will Karen be gone then? I forgot when she leaves.

Yay about Hugh Howey! I just got his final book Dust a few days ago, signed! :-) The book isn't released until today officially. Hugh does live signings on his website and did a 4 hour marathon the other day with his mom helping. He's always been very accessible to his fans. So I'm not surprised he said yes to you!

This book had me at the first scene with the view of outside! This next book will be completely different now that they can see out and their loved ones can see in. Wow!! Just keeps getting better and better.
