Bill Welcome to the group, Catherine. I enjoy le Carre and Martin Cruz Smith as well, both excellent writers. I'm sure you'll get many other recommendations here. Enjoy!

Welcome Catherine. We are certainly becoming very global. I think you are the first from Tasmania!

I've read the first Louise Penny book, Still Life, and enjoyed it. Friends have read more in the series and they say each book gets better and better.

Bill I have the first Louise Penny on my TBR shelf, hoping I won't enjoy so I don't have to start a new series.. ;0)

Marja McGraw (marja1) | 114 comments Welcome, Catharine! I visited Tasmania in the late 80s and traveled with an Australian friend. We stayed with her relatives all around Tasmania while we there. That trip is one of my favorite memories. Lots of pictures so I don't forget. :)

I was just joking. I've so many series on the go, I was joking that maybe I shouldn't read the first Louise Penny as it might make me start another.. The joke sort of fell flat.. as most of my witticisms do.. lol

My friend's cousin took us on a driving tour around the island. I swear, there's not a straight road on the island. Talk about car sick! :) And one of the treats was visiting her aunt and uncle on a sheep ranch. Like I said, lots of pictures. I'm glad to hear it hasn't changed.
