Interview with Shannon

What was the first thing you remember writing?

My first memory of trying to write was before I could even spell, but the first tale I wrote from beginning to end was in the third grade. So I must have been seven or eight at the time. We were given an assignment to re-write a Fairy Tale. So I twisted The Three Billy Goats Gruff, creating The Three Bush Brothers Bother. I don't remember the whole thing, but it was like twelve pages long, and I recall a machete... *Big smile*
I got an 'A'and my teacher told me that I should definitely keep writing. From there it was game on and I've been writing ever since. My first Solo Novel is actually dedicated to him.

Who are your inspirations when writing? Authors? Family? Friends?

I'm inspired by the smallest of things, random strangers, a strange shape in the wood grain on the floor can give me ideas. Shakespeare said "all the worlds a stage and we are all but merely players", I feel that way about the world around me. Everything and everyone can be a well of inspirations. Which is probably why I have far more books started than finished!!

What is your favorite genre to write and why?
I don't really stick to one genre. My work toes the line on several. Although my niche is Paranormal Drama as in my Co-Authored work, Awakenings The Wrath Saga, which is like The Real World meets Big Brother Paranormal style.
My newest work, In Dreams... The Solitary Road which is slated for publication in October, is Adult Epic Fantasy. There's always a bit of Romance, but that's because when you throw people together long enough it does sometimes happen that they go a round or two.
So my work is always labeled 17+ due to sometimes explicit sex and violence. I write for Adults, because I am one.

What are your plans for future books/ series?

Oh the list goes for miles. My Co-Author Will Van Stone Jr and I are in the process of editing Rapture The next in The Wrath Saga Series, which is to be followed by six more.
I am already editing the second and third books in my In Dreams Series, while working on Centuries of Blood, my vampire Romance, and Blood Resonance another tale of a supporting character's life from The Wrath Saga. I'm easily distracted so I bounce around to keep it fresh.

Do you have a favorite character in your books?

Depends on the book/series. With The Wrath Saga books, I'm partial to Cynthia O'Connor and Christopher Kind. Cyn is a vampire/angel mix, powerful, sexy, a ball buster, and despite all her efforts to prove the contrary, very vulnerable.
Chris, well he's a great mix of me and the better parts of men I've known. He's honest, strong, funny, over 6'2 and one of the older vampires in the tale, although he won't admit how much older. These two hold me because so much of me is in them. If I were an Immortal Male, I would be Christopher Kind. If I could be my ideal Female, I would be Cynthia Ilizabeth O'Connor.
From the In Dreams Series I love Amara, and Morgan Braith. Morgan is not seen until book two, but I love the chemistry between them. They have a rather juvenile attraction to each other, right down to the rock throwing!

Who/ what do you model your characters after?

Myself, family, friends and strangers for personalities. Looks just come to me. When a character starts screaming at me to live, they pretty much tell me what they look like.
Other times its through dreams. I'll remember a character and be like, "YES! They need a tale, ooh I'll add them here or there, hell I'll add them to both!"
Almost every character is ideal in appearance I just think if you're going to let your imagination run, then it should be allowed to run wild after something worth lusting for.
I mean who wants to read a description of two mediocre people going for it? That's what Skinamax is for...

Thanks Shannon for this amazing inerview!
