Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments Bob is still in the hospital and he is not ready to listen to the docotr's orders. I don't know how much longer I can have him as Ray's sitter. This has been a tough week.

I am so sorry to hear about this, Colleen. If things do not work out with Bob, I hope you find someone with whom you have the same degree of trust.

Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments Thank you, I spoke with him today. He is coming home tomorrow. He sounds much better today, I just hope he will follow directions when he gets home. He is only 59 too young to die.

Concur. I will be 59 in 2010, and I am planning on at least another century.

Message from George, a new member, that was misplaced on our site:

Hello to all members of Gigi's Company. My name is George Straatman...I'm a goodreads author and a member of this fine group...My novels, The Converging and Converging:Mark of the Demon are posted my home page of this site...I am from a small city in Northern City (I share a hometown with your moderator, who, if all goes as planned, will be providing editorial input on the final novel of my Converging Trilogy...which should be available in March). The Converging trilogy is a dark and intense horror/supernatural thriller driven by both a strong female antagonist and protagonist...I would like to invite group members to visit my home page at Smashwords.com http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/g...

There, you will be able to download a 30% sample of both e-books to gain a sense of what these horror offerings are all about. Smashwords in an indie e-publisher that allows their authors to have a great deal of control over pricing and distribtion of their novels. If group members are interested in acquiring the first novel of the trilogy, just drop me an e-mail in-site here and I will issue a coupon that will allow you to purchase the novel for $1.00...thanks to all for indulging this bit of self-promotion and it's great to be part of your group!

Have a great time and don't be concerned about the calories. All the worry we do as parents burns off what we gain at our children's birthday celebrations.

Wendy T Colleen, Happy 9th Birthday to Ray. I hope he enjoys his Birthday dinner at Friendly's.

Happy B-day to Ray, Colleen! I can't believe he's nine! LOL, it doesn't feel like I've known you for a while now. My daughter, Vanessa, will be turning 9 on April 3rd. Has Ray started the "back-talk" yet?

message 163: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments Ray says Thank you for the birthday wishes.

Gina, I let Ray read your whole message without reading it myself. He said to tell you that yes, he the back-talk has started. He is very fresh!

Colleen, mine's been at it over half a year already. I'm getting really tired of the word 'no', especially when I tell her to do something she doesn't want to do. And she's almost 9? Crap, am I in trouble or what?! I'm already cringing the teenage years. Oy!

Natasha (bookniblet) | 41 comments Hi everyone. My family has been down for the count with a nasty flu. We have since recovered and are back into the busy swing of things. My son (6 Y/O) told me that a girl on TV was hot. How does he know what hot is??? Seriously????!!!! YIKES!

message 167: by Kathleen (new)

Kathleen Burket (kathleengigicompany) | 20125 comments Mod
He probably heard someone else use that term and thought that it sounded cool; however, as the mother of two adult children, they figure out far too much before you are ready for them to get it.

message 168: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments My big concern is that Ray will be a Teenager and I will be going through the change at the same time. No one will want to come to my house, you will be able to see the hormons flying out the window. LOL LOL LOL

Tash, my son, who's now 7-years-old, has this huge crush on Shannon, my brother's wife. From the moment he met her a year and a half ago, he would call my brother names and sulk when my brother kissed Shannon. He still does, LOL! It's amazing how fast kids can pick things up!

Colleen, not sure how many would want to visit your place at that time either, LOL!

My mom this morning decided we're having brunch at my parents place on Sunday, after church. My brother plans on doing some more of that kissing, just to watch my son sulk and pout and go off in a huff. This Valentine's Day is going to be interesting to say the least! Ha!

message 179: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenct1) | 1537 comments LOL I hope you have a great Valentine's Day. Brunch is my favorite meal. Ray and I are going shopping for new clothes. All of a sudden nothing fits and it just seemed to happen over night. LOL

My kids haven't hit a growth spurt yet. My daughter's in a size 7, which is great for her age. My son, however, has me constantly cursing. I can't buy 'outfits', cause either the shirt's too small or the pants are too big. While I need a size 5 to fit over his head, the same size in pants are just the right length, but he doesn't have any hips or a butt to keep them up! I need those pants with the adjustable elastic waste. Size 4 is too short! Just to give you and idea, his bathing suit last year was found in the 24 months section of Walmart.

This is an extremely busy time of the year for me at school. We have just completed registering all of the upper classmen for 2010-2011. I am now in the midst of registering incoming 8th graders for the classes that they will take when they become freshmen next year. Also, busy with the routine: teach classes, meet with parents, etc.

My oldest is a November baby and I tell you from Halloween we don't ever seem to have a weekend free because of all of the birthday and holidays until the end of February. Congratulations on the baby, there’s nothing better than being an Aunt (you get to give them back!) =)

I sure hope his insurance is paying for his stupidity, Karen. I'm glad you and your mom-in-law are okay. Give that bozo a kick in the butt from me.

Karen (karenvwrites) | 134 comments trust me gina it's tested and true.i tried to help a friend get her dads car out of a rut. i barely missed a cadillac burst through a neighbours wooden fence , killed a pine tree and nearly hit a house --all in reverse. cops said when it comes to driving I am mentally blond. I just opted not too. driving no, back yard demolition derby I can handle. having been a passenger in 2 car accidents --i get too freaked out.

message 196: by Gina (new)

Gina (ginrobi) | 3325 comments Mod
That's hilarious, mentally blond. I know some people shouldn't drive. We have them up here too.

I've been in small bumper stumpers, thank goodness. I've seen the results of major accidents that have happen to family members. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Last year, the week my brother got married, my dad's uncle was involved in a head-on collision with a smaller vehicle. My uncle caused the accident. We don't know what went wrong, if his mind was in the clouds or what. He was in a coma for almost a week, woke up, and it looked like he was doing better, but the docs pronounced him dead 24 hours later. The person he hit - we knew them well. He worked at one of the parts stores we deal with frequently. I knew Frank since I was a teen. His daughter is mentally handicapped as well. Now they both have to learn how to walk again. Kind of hard to swallow... family and friends involved in the same accident.

message 197: by Karen (new)

Karen (karenvwrites) | 134 comments that is sad Gina--and sorry for loss of your uncle

message 198: by Gina (new)

Thank you, Karen. I have yet to talk to Frank. It feels weird, with my uncle being the one that caused the accident and all...
