Elizabeth☮ I would save orphan master's son for later. Where'd you go Bernadette is a quick read. I haven't read the other two.

Tammy | 1 comments Since it's still summer (at least it is here in the Pacific Northwest) I recommend you read Bernadette. It's fun, funny and a fast read and great for these long, warm evenings. I'm not sure where you're located but I'm from Seattle and found the book especially charming (and at times spot on!).

Russell | 37 comments I just finished Stoner- changed my reading life. One of the most amazing novels I have ever read. High recommendation. I loved Orphan Masters Son, but not a light read.

Melissa | 279 comments Wow. I have read Where'd You Go Bernadette, but the other three you listed are also on my to-read list. I can't decide!

Sounds like a good choice! The Orphan Master's Son isn't my idea of vacation reading.

Karen Brown (khbrown) | 99 comments I've read 3 of the 4 books on your list. I'd suggest (1) Bernadette - light & fun read - great for August, (2) Stone (great recommendation by Ann Kingman), (3) Orphan Master (awesome, but need to be in the right mood to tackle. Don't think you could go wrong with any of the books on your list!

Russell | 37 comments Hello Emily -

I am so glad you like it. I agree with everything you said. It is one of those books that has an amazing way to connect. I have had a number of people in my life read it recently (I have been pimping it out a bunch) and everyone feels the same. Which is great.

P.S. It is also one of Ann Kingmans favorite books :-)

So glad I opened up this thread, now I can add Stoner to my TBR :)

Judi | 17 comments I am now reading "Out of the Easy" by Ruta Septeys. Heard about it on NPR. Really like it.

Judi | 17 comments I became so interested in the main character that I suddenly realized there was a mystery developing. Subtle... I had to force myself to stop reading last night and go to bed.
