34. Jane Austen – Pride and Prejudice

i was disappointed in the silmarillion. i only read the lord of the rings trilogy this year, and was so amazed at how enthralling it all was. i just flew through them, absolutely great books. but the silmarillion i found to be so dull, with the exception of a chapter or two. mostly a chore to read.

42. Jack Marx – Australian Tragic

this book was immensely engrossing, and showed me how little i knew of my own country's history. each story was interesting, but some outshone others and literally sent shivers down my spine.

43. Virginia Woolf – Mrs. Dalloway

44. Mary Ann Shaffer – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

45. Chuck Palahniuk – Pygmy
i enjoyed the story, but it was hard to read. i don't think i got used to the style till 3/4 of the way through. regardless it was funny and entertaining, i’d gladly read it again (if only to go over passages i had trouble understanding). Palahniuk’s still one of my favourite authors.

46. Agatha Christie – Cat Among the Pigeons

and yes, carol, i'm australian.
