Linda King | 11 comments Greetings to all, it will be most entertaining interacting with writers who create fiction. My genre is non-fiction - though I have considered finishing a sci-fi book that I began 10 years ago or more, non-fiction suits me.

A lifetime writer, news-journalist and publisher I finally wrote the damn book. The subject matter is timely, The issue of cops gone wild is nothing new - Prisons are for crooks not for Broken People. Religion creates an evil beyond reasoning - it divides people just like governments. So, these are the topics I address in my book. What say you?

Hello and welcome aboard Linda. Indeed, there are not many non-fiction writer around. I'd say it's because fiction is so much easier.

Welcome aboard, Adam :3

Hi Linda, I agree with what G.G says, lots of research and dedication for non-fiction :3

Linda King | 11 comments Hi! Thank you Bisky and G.G - Somehow I didn't see it that why for myself, but you are correct. I do write for all readers, I want the average person to feel at ease, not be intimidated with nonsense and vocabulary words. I don't need to impress anyone looking for information. I just want them to think about it, if anything- another point of view with the experience to back it up.

Thanks Bisky!

And I agree as well, and that can be hard to admit, being a fiction writer. Non-fiction takes real discipline, and I respect the ones that can do it, and do it well.

Try something adventurous to remove the block, something you have never done before but wanted to do. I hope you don't have to go to extremes like myself (jumping out of a plane) - Just a new experience will unlock the block!

Also, if the first book bothers you for lack of sales - ask others what you could do to improve your work.

Polly Tiller | 18 comments thanks for the message Linda, I know my book is quite good because I got a publishing contract, but I couldn't afford the publishers fee so I chose to self publish with Amazon. I would never jump out of a plane, you are brave

Polly, publishers shouldn't charge you. That might have been a vanity press. They try and trap want to be authors by making them pay huge amounts.

There is a topic about it here:

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Doesn't mean your book isn't great though :]

Polly Tiller | 18 comments thanks for the comment Bisky. I was glad I chose Amazon because I have a future with them, my book will always be printed. I've just found Google + 6 weeks ago, I am making a great online presence with G+.

Amanda Proscia | 1 comments Hello! I'm writing a MG fantasy currently titled The Ghosts of Wareville. It's a setting-driven story about a place that's lost its history. Sounds like there's a lot of great writing going on in this group and I'm excited to get to know you all!

Hello and welcome aboard Polly. Don't give up hope. I heard it can take up to five years before a book/author takes off. You acknowledged knowing your book is good so why stop writing?
I also heard that new authors need at least three books out before it happens...so you see, that should be an incentive to get rid of your author's block. :)

Everette Henry (ehenry818) | 3 comments So I have been off the Goodreads scene for a while. My work and kids consume most of my time. I finally was able to finish my first kids book. I was going to make it an interactive app, but I just did not have the time. I have released it on Amazon and waiting for it to be accepted on ibooks. Anyone have any advise to pass along on marketing tips etc. I have the info on Goodreads. Just Search for Penguin Brother Adventures :) any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Javoniel (jjicewind3) | 3 comments Hello all, I'm Javoniel Trowers. I'm a teen author who writes fantasy/science fiction novels. I occasionally write contemporary but usually on in short stories. I also write poetry but I'm quite bad at it. I am currently working on two novels. One being the first of a fantasy series of somewhat epic proportions and the other a stand alone science fiction "war drama" story. I love to read (though I may just be a compulsive book buyer more than a reader). :) Hi everyone.

Now that's hardcore. I'm pretty weird with the book buying too. I tend to geek out sometimes. Also one of my favorite smells is the smell of a new book :) Yeah weird me.

If that's weird I think we're all weird then. Personally, I find weird someone who does NOT love the smell of new books! Barnes and Nobles has to be my favorite store. It has everything to please my nose: book smell AND coffee smell. :)

I can totally imagine how epic that must be (Jamaican so-Never been to Barnes and Nobles) I'm jealous.

Hamid Karima | 24 comments Hi friends, I was away for a long time. I've gained my motivation for writing from two weeks ago and I've written a short story. One of friends asked where he could read some short stories. If one's interested in detective puzzle stories, he can read this last story by the link below.
I'm happy to contact with you again.

If there's anyone out there like that, let me know. I'll get back here soon as I'm done. Oh, and I'm also working on The Sorceress Book 2, so a lot is on my plate right now, in between reading books too. I'm a very busy person.
