Hi all

Do any songs remind you of certain books? For me, whenever I hear Chevelle's song Saferwaters I get strong flashbacks from Perdido St Station. Something about the lyrics perhaps.

Here are the lyrics:

And here is one of the illegal youtube uploads:

Cheers Chris, I hadn't heard of this band but I think I'll have to investigate further. Hey, unofficial uploads lead to people discovering music (or films/TV/books/etc) and it getting a wider audience. Who'd have thunk it...

No worries. I only came across Chevelle early this year when I saw them featured on iTunes and liked them so much I now have all their albums.

Micah Sisk (micahrsisk) | 1436 comments Mike Oldfield's Hergest Ridge album will always be the soundtrack to Lord of the Rings for me. I discovered both at the same time. Hergest Ridge embodies many of the same emotions as Tolkien's great work: a longing for simpler, romantic or mythic times; the sense of journey, loss and mystery; hope and yearning; even a keen feel for the English countryside. Hearing even two seconds of Hergest Ridge instantly teleports me to Hobbiton as we set out on a long and seemingly hopeless quest. Great stuff.

Jael (jaelll) Green Day's 21 Guns will always be associated with The Way of Shadows (Night Angel, #1) by Brent Weeks for me, partly because I discovered the two of them together, and partly because the lyric sums up the main character, Kylar's life perfectly.
