Mandy (mettakaruna) In a few of the other groups I am in they have a section where everyone can add their own thread and keep track of their personal goals for the week / month / year whatever...

Well to be honest, I really don't like those groups and feel that I only go in to update my reading list and then rush out of the clique-ey groups way to quickly.

I know I am a newbie to the group but I am really enjoying the company here and would like to know if it is possible to have a section here for us to add our personal threads and keep track. I just don't want to go back to those groups. Please don't make me go back!! LOL

Holli You are too cute! I'm glad that you enjoy us here....I love the no pressure of CoL too. Tera is great at keeping this an open, fun, easygoing group and I'm happy to see that you want to stay. I'll talk to Tera about this today and see where she'd like to put that thread.... or could you just do it here and keep updating the same post? Would that not work well? Let me know what you think about that Mandy and we could just start it now.

Would anyone else like a place to keep their reading goals list?

Mandy (mettakaruna) In the other groups there is a section called Personal Goals (kind of like "CoL Info & ?s." In it everyone who is interested adds there own personal thread and updates the same post throughout the year. Some people discuss things in there threads and others just use it as a strict count.

Mandy (mettakaruna) BTW ~ You ladies do a great job at keeping this group fun and easygoing. I have been in and out of groups on this site for a while now and I am so happy I finally found this one! Thank you!!

Absolutely! Last year I created a thread for myself that I would update with my books for the year because I had a goal to read 3 a month. I would certainly start one maybe in the Hot Book discussion folder. If its personal self goals I'd put it in girl talk folder.
I know having that thread was not only fun but a good stimulator for me to keep up with my goal.
If enough follow suit we can create a folder just for that but for now lets keep it in one of the folders that already exists. Holli and I are trying to not overwhelm the front page with too many folders so we want to condense as much as possible within the existing folders unless we see discussion moving so fast posts are getting lost. Then we look at creating a new folder for them.
Great question and welcome to the group :)
T~

Mandy (mettakaruna) Thanks Tera!! If I put it in the wrong place just move it for me. I followed Holli's lead. =)

Elizabeth (Alaska) Mandy Sue, I like how you have your thread set up with thumbnails of the book covers. Posting this way gives each of us a chance to look at books we might not otherwise.

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments I like the thumbnails too... cant quite figure out how to do that myself...so I just added the links to mine...

Mandy (mettakaruna) Thank you. =)

It's easy to do it. Click on the add book/author then type in the book name and search. Then click on the button that says cover. Then to add the title do the same thing but click the button that says link. I hope that made sense.

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments aha!!! made perfect sense... guess I never paid attention to the "cover" option

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 319 comments Oh geez. I have so many books on my TBR shelf that I'm afraid I'll break the boards if I post them all. I love seeing everyone's lists, though. It is a great way to find new authors and titles that we wouldn't otherwise know about.

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I agree with you, Mandy Sue. I keep track of my monthly goals on another 'group' but it's the only time I'm there, and it's really impersonal. I think I'm gonna add my list on COL and say 'bye' to the other group! I'm most comfortable on here, anyway :) Great idea!!

message 13: by Holli (new)

Holli I'm so glad to hear that Brandie--it'll make life much easier right? :)

message 14: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) much easier! :)

Mandy (mettakaruna) I haven't deleted the other groups yet but I haven't visited them since I found COL. Much better group!!

As you can see we turned this into it's own folder when so many became inspired to add theirs. I think that's great and love it when someones suggestion snowballs into something that gets so many of us excited about books. I know with summer and end of the school it gets busy but these threads are so inspiring. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I agree, Tera! I love getting ideas from others and being inspired by other peoples goals. This is a great idea!

Mandy (mettakaruna) Thank you Tera! I'm so happy everyone is enjoying the idea. I'm glad I brought it over here from that other group. =)

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 319 comments I'm having a blast checking out others' goals and challenges. I just posted my own and sharing here will give me even more motivation to complete it by the end of the year!
