I find http://www.redwoodsmedicaledge.com to be very helpful because the author is a medical professional who advises other authors on medical questions like how to kill people and stuff like that.

Here is my blog for my book series, WHO Won?!? An Irreverent Look at the Oscars. One of the fun things there are a series of yearly polls with an introduction for that year in the movies. You can go pick what you think should have won the Best Picture of any year from 1927-1944 (more years getting added weekly!)

What blogging platforms to people like the most?

I use my own website to blog, my brother designed it and its based off a wordpress. Im gonna start a tumblr soon though too :]

Do you self host the blog?

Its on my brothers server. You can get one through wordpress just the same :] I've not had that many hits on it though, I'm going to do a tumblr for more funny things where as I just Blog about writing. I Vlog about random things too on the YouTubes. Its just finding the right platform for you.

I should ad that although I haven't had many hits, its still alot considering how little I've been using it lately because of editing/school/language course consistency is the key :3

I used to have a self-hosted wordpress now it's hosted on wordpress atm. I like the extra features on wordpress hosted blogs. I'm not sure if those features are available on self hosted ones. I have a tumblr, a writing one and a general/personal/fandom one, but I don't think I like my writing tumblr much as my main writing blog. I might just make another writing blog, and then duplicate onto tumblr or something.

Im just going to post short things on tumblr, I dont really know much about my website *scratches head* I just do the content my brother handles everything else :3

I'd destroy the internet If I tried anything mroe complex :p

Tumblr is great for fandom but I'm not sure about anything else. Also it's a total time suck and you tend to post 90% other stuff 10% your own.

On Tumblr - I personally don't think it's a great resource for writers, unless they're also crazy fangirls who like reblogging everything in sight (aka me). ;) If y'all are looking for a platform to start blogging, I'd advise going with Wordpress or Blogger.

@Rhian, I'm not sure what features the Wordpress-hosted blogs give you, but when you self-host a Wordpress blog you can get pretty much anything you want from plugins and themes. They can sometimes be buggy and sometimes you'll have to dip into the code, but there are tons of possibilities.

For my own site, I'm leaning towards minimalism these days, though.

My site is a combination of pages that I coded myself along with a blog section that uses Wordpress. I don't post nearly as often as I should, but what I do is mostly all book/writing related. I've been planning to start a series of author interviews, but I've been a bit swamped with unrelated work lately.

@Jennifer, I use GoDaddy to buy and manage domain names, but I use he.net for hosting my sites. But GoDaddy can host too.
