Mandy (mettakaruna) How was The Historian? It's on my To-Read list but I keep pushing it off. Same thing with The Alchemist. I keep hearing mixed reviews.

message 4: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) Duh, never mind I just noticed they are on your TBR list. LOL

Elizabeth (Alaska) Kat, Wish you Well is not your usual David Baldacci stuff. And I loved it! Hope you do too. I have a few of your others on my Wish List and will look forward to hearing about them from you.

Katie (katieisallbooked) | 319 comments You can do it! You've got lots of good titles there. In Cold Blood is amazing. The Awakening is in my Top 5 Favorites of all-time. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" is my favorite movie ever so of course I enjoy the book.

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* You have a great list Kat! Are you doing the 1001 before you die one? I can't wait for you to read the Book Thief..loved it!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Shelby, I am doing the 1001.... I have the excel format spreadsheet on my computer, and also have a list on my phone that I keep with me. My 17 yr old son wants to get the actual book with all of them listed.....he says that we can mark each one we read with a different color... his with red and mine with purple.... At least I have one child that reads something other than car magazines! :)

Shelby *trains flying monkeys* Oh gosh is it not great when they read! I love it. My daughter Jen is my only reader..she loves all these little teenie books and recently even read Anne Frank! I love love it. That's a pretty good idea with the markers. I want that book too.

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments 8. In Cold Blood [image error]

love the "creative non fiction"

Holli That's a really good idea your son had.... you guys should do that!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments I was impressed when he came up with the idea! He said that even when he moves away that one of us will keep the book, and as we read the books listed, that we will call each other so that we can keep it updated.

It may take a few weeks for him to get going again with it though. He graduated high school this past Thursday, and right now he isn't wanting to read too much of anything........lol

message 13: by Holli (new)

Holli He sounds like a very interesting guy, sounds like you've really raised two great men Kat!

And congrats on his graduation. I firmly believe the mom has every right to be congratulated on that day too! ;)

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Thanks Holli! I think that I have recovered my swollen, puffy teary eyes.............maybe...lol

Elizabeth (Alaska) Oh, Kat, what a mature son you have. That young and wanting to keep up and share with with Mom on a 1001 book list. Vunderbar!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Elizabeth, everyone that meets my two boys thinks that he is the oldest. He is 17 and his brother is 20.... and they are like daylight and dark.

Between the two of us, we already own about 30 of the books on the list... We read different ones and try to help the other decide which one to read and if the other will like it or not.

message 17: by Brandie (new)

Brandie (brandiemichelle) I really enjoyed 'Water for Elephants'. And I just ordered the 'Book Thief' from the library this week!

Kat - it's so wonderful that your son loves to read, too, and you can share that with each other. I know I got my love of reading from my mom, and I'm really grateful to her!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Ok.... so I am about midway through The Awakening... am really loving it, but had to stop.............. I had to go to the eye doctor last week......... now I'm waiting on my glasses to come in!!!!

message 19: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Ah Kat, it will probably take a few days to get used to them too!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments I know and it sucks too!! I so want to finish reading this book!!!!

message 21: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cyndil62) | 1774 comments Maybe you could get the audio.... but I know, it's just not the same!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments YEYYYYYYYYYYYY... I got my glasses!! I can finally start reading again, without headaches!!!

Elizabeth (Alaska) Kat, both of these are on my Wish List. With permission to splurge a little at a big bookstore next weekend, I'm hoping they get into the bag!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments Yes, Brenda...reading without headaches is a good thing!

Elizabeth, got them both for $4.50 each! easy to splurge like that!

Elizabeth (Alaska) Kat, we have only a small Waldenbooks here. I'll be visiting a full-fledged Barnes and Noble in downtown Seattle. I hope I don't swoon and faint when I enter that store. I'll check out any bargain tables first, but in any case, there will be room in my luggage for some sort of haul, markdowns or not.

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments LOL....... I swoon and faint everytime I go in a B&N or a BAM!!! Once I regain my senses I wander around for hours!!

Kat (A Journey In Reading) (ajourneyinreading) | 390 comments 11. The Shadow of the Wind The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

Loved this book! It had mystery, intrique, humor, love, torture, murder....... everything that makes a book. I loved how the characters unfolded and intertwine with each other.

message 30: by Mandy (new)

Mandy (mettakaruna) I used to work at Barnes & Noble. Needless to say, my paychecks never made it out of the store.

message 31: by Krys (new)

Krys (incognerdo) | 140 comments Yeah, Barnes & Noble would kill me too. I always find myself in that store with a handful of books when I'm out driving around. My bank account screams for mercy. *lol*
