I would have never immagined that someone could really be interested in reading Virgil!!!! I had to read it - as all Italians have to, at least those attending a grammar school. But it is definitly - at least in my opinion - to be compared to Omer's works.
I'll follow with keen interest a discussion on this, but I'm definitly not going to pick it up again!!!

I absolutely adore this historical tome! Hope you'll find someone to read with you :)

I hope so too. It requires commitment especially because of it's volume so I hope someone else wants to read it too.

I hope you will find a buddy-reader, otherwise, as said, don't be afraid of the lenght.

Raul, If you would like to read it with a group, The Great American Read GR group just started reading it this month.

Anyone interested in a buddy read of The Sense of an Ending (Julian Barnes) or Plainsong (Kent Haruf)?

Greg, I read Plainsong two years ago and loved it. I love everything by Kent Haruf. I gave the book to a friend so I no longer have it. Otherwise, I would have joined you.

Cathie, nominations for the classic group read are coming up. Why don't you save that for then?

Can someone explain how to set up a separate thread for this book?

We had a terrific discussion and there are a lot of good references listed.
I'm sure many will drop in to comment and perhaps read a specific episode when you comment in the thread.
I'm looking forward to both your thoughts & ideas of this read.

Do let us know which episodes you & Connie are reading. Some of us might reread an episode or two and join in.

Can someone explain how to set up a separate thread for this book?"
Connie, for new thread on this topic; Go to main discussion page, link: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/list_...
Up top to the right of the middle you'll see 'New topic', press enter here. You will be shown: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/new?c...
Your topic will be 'Ulysses Readalong Sept '19' or something like that.
The folder will be 'Readlongs'
Add whatever comment you want, perhaps who is reading it with you.
Then hit 'Post'
We were thinking of reading Homage to Catalonia in April. Who's interested?
I can open a thread this week end if there are still people keen in this readng

I have a few I’m reading in my list that suitable
Natalie Daniels - Too Close
Cass Green - Don’t you cry
Clare Boyd - Three secrets
Deborah Masson - Hold you’re tongue
Caroline Mitchell - The perfect mother
Shalini Boland - One of us is lying
Adele Parks - Just my luck

I have too much on my plate at the moment but maybe others would be interested. What sort of book is it? A brief description might help folks decide.

This story is so important with what has happened lately. It is an experiment that happened in California when kids couldn’t believe people followed Nazi. COVID is bad but how do we prevent the thinking that humanity in trouble many times throughout history.

I am interested though life may put a kibosh on my plans. I thought I had kept my Latin/English version from school but I can't find it so I have downloaded a version.
I would prefer a slow to moderate pace.
