No problem, would love to hear your opinions.

Sandy, Alannah has set up a Gatsby readalong thread, thank you Alannah!! We are looking at a flexible start date around the end of October.

Gill | 5719 comments Dhanarah/Jenny/anyone else, are we going to read Austerlitz sometime? It would suit me to leave it until January, if that suits you all. Who knows, we could be the first readalong on the list for 2015!

Dhanaraj Rajan | 2962 comments I am in for AUSTERLITZ. And anuary is perfect.

Would anyone be interested in reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch?

Giorgia wrote: "Would anyone be interested in reading The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch?"

It looks interesting Giorgia, but I'm pretty booked with reading this year - I want to join in on group reads, have a book to read for recommendation swap, and am trying to read some prospective gift books for Christmas. If you could hold off until January, I'd probably be able to join you then. :)

Hi Greg, I hadn't noticed the last comment before. I've heard from other people too and it seems like December could be a good time to start The Lies. However, with the holidays I always get behind on my reading, so I'll definitely keep reading through January. Also for me December - January - February means crazy studying for exams and so I don't read much.

message 416: by Robin P (new)

Robin P The Lies of Locke Lamora is a wonderful book and series, and the audio is excellent as well. I probably won't reread/listen since I have so many others I want to get through, but I'd be interested in the discussion.

What ever happened to the I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings readalong? Did I miss it?

message 418: by Greg (new)

Greg | 8316 comments Mod
How funny, I guess I snoozed there at some point :)

message 419: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 16369 comments I think that readalong fizzled out -- Heather was busy and no-one else stepped up to take charge. Do you want to read it now (before we switch to another group poet)?

message 420: by Greg (new)

Greg | 8316 comments Mod
I'd still be interested in reading it if others are still interested. Anyone else still want to do a readalong of I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings?

I'm planning to read it at some point, Greg, so I could join you in a readalong.

I am interested in reading that but have no time this month. Sorry :(

Sorry Greg, I was meant to do this but I completely ran out of time. Had a crazy November (worked away for 3 weeks then started a new job)!

message 424: by Greg (new)

Greg | 8316 comments Mod
No problem Heather! I myself am always over-committed on readalongs. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach! And I certainly know about work taking over. Hope your new job went well! :)

I have a lot to read this month too. Would more be able to join if we delayed until January?

message 425: by [deleted user] (new)

I could do January. I would like to get it from the library.

Please go ahead and read it anyway of you want to as I'm trying not to commit to too much!

message 426: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) I was waiting for you to say something when you had time, Heather, as I have it on my Kindle ready.

But I'm happy to read it next year now as I managed to fit in three books by Maya Angelou for our seasonal poet. I never expected to be able to find so many in an accessible format :)

message 427: by Heather (new)

Heather | 571 comments Greg, I would love to join you in reading I know why the caged bird sings... I see you mentioned January, that would be a good time to start for me! December already seems a bit manic!

message 428: by [deleted user] (new)

That's great news, Jean. Glad you could join in. Let's go for January. I'm back on the 4th so will look for a copy after that

message 429: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) It's a date :)
Hope we don't get too confused here. My notifications just said, "Heather and Heather commented on "Would anyone like to join me in reading ...?"" :D

message 433: by [deleted user] (new)

@Jaytee I'd love to read this but don't have time at the moment. When are you thinking? I love Cutting for Stone

message 434: by Jaytee (new)

Jaytee | 51 comments Heather, I can wait until you're ready to read this. When would work for you? I thoroughly enjoyed Cutting for Stone too. One of the few books that is part of my permanent library.

Read Cutting for Stone, it is a brilliant book. One of my favourites.

Great, I will set up a thread in a week or so and I've just ordered a copy of the book (so much for not buying books, eh? It wasn't available in the library!)

message 440: by Jaytee (new)

Jaytee | 51 comments Pink, I encourage you to check him out.

Heather, thank you & I look forward to this readalong (my first!). Hope this will work for you too, Diane!

message 446: by Monica (new)

Monica Davis I would like to join in the readalong as well. This book was recommended to me by a friend who rated it very highly. Would love to read a deeper story behind Augustine (other than what the nuns told us as kids).

Charbel, I'd like to join too! I really enjoyed The Book of Margery Kempe; it would be interesting to read more books by early religious figures.

message 449: by [deleted user] (new)
