Ruth Not sure link will work, but there's a trailer for new movie with Detective Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Jude Law)

It's certain a different concept ~

Sarah I do kind of want to see it, since I like good action movies, but it sure doesn't look like any Sherlock story I've ever seen.

Barbara (cinnabarb) I'm looking forward to this new film. I like most of the Sherlock Holmes movies I've seen. My favorites are the ones with Jeremy Brett as Holmes that were (and are) shown on PBS.

Duffy (mcduff) A Sherlock story with action - believable and probably worth seeing - a Sherlock unclothed? hummm - I will have to think about this one!

Though I grew up watching Basil's Sherlock, Jeremy Brett was by far the best Holmes ever.

Shomeret | 45 comments That trailer is delightful! Thank you for sharing it with us, Ruth. I always like new approaches to the classics. I was a huge fan of The Seven Percent Solution and I'm a loyal reader of Laurie King's Holmes series.

Ruth A trailer of a different sort on youtube is the new one for Lehane's Shutter Island. I read the book and enjoyed it. The movie looks well done, intense, frightening. Not sure I'm brave enough.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 31 comments Jeremy Brett is definately the best Sherlock Holmes ever. Just like I can't picture anyone ever being Hercule Poirot as good as David Suchet is.

I agree. David Suchet is the one and only Hercule Poirot in my mind.

Lily I don't see why they have to give Holmes the Hollywood treatment yet again, but if it gets the kids reading again then it will have served some purpose.
