It's time to choose the books we are gonna read in October! So please leave your recommendations in this discussion :)

I really want to read Doctor Sleep. Anyone else up for a really creepy Stephen King book in October?? It is scheduled for release in Sept in the US.


Also, I have The Rosie Project on my TBR for October. I heard it's really good and funny. :)

Since it's October how about Skulduggery Pleasant which I haven't read yet but have only heard excellent things of, it's kind of like Harry Potter (that its for kids and adults at the same time)

For a more mature read; there;s The Child Thief by Brom with beautiful, haunting imagery and is kind of a dark re-imagining of Peter Pan with a Celtic myth twist.
And maybe The Diviners for a lighter touch a paranormal roaring twenties flapper story The Diviners

I love the idea of reading one new and one old.

I read Rebecca this summer and really enjoyed it.

I second Doctor Sleep and The Diviners.

I am up for something scary for October so if it can be read as a stand alone sounds good.


For a second read
Tell the Wolves I'm Home is book I have heard rave reviews about and it also just came out on paperback.

I don't believe you have to read the Shining to read Doctor Sleep. I was under the impression that they could stand alone. In the Shining, there is a little boy. His father is the one that goes crazy in the hotel. Doctor Sleep is the story about the boy after he is grown up. So, he called it The Shining 2 because it's about the same character.

I would like to try Dr. Sleep, sounds good , summer is over and I am glad to get back to the book club.
