Anyone interested in doing a buddy read on the third installment of The Girl of Fire and Thorns? I love this series so far and anxious to start Bitter Kingdom but love to do it with some buddies. I can start it right away as I just finished a book, but I can hold off if someone has a timeline they would like to start.

OK jenny I started a book last night so I probably won't finish it for a couple days I only get to read at night. so at least a couple more days till I start Bitter. I can usually read more then one at a time but I want to just focus on Bitter I've been excited for the third book, such an amazing series, I'm supposed more haven't read it. I read it by accident trying to get into the throne of glass and stuff, I got confused with the titles lol but happy surprise!

Okay, I will just wait for you then, it will be more fun to read together :) I've got plenty of other books to read!

Okay I'm at 39%. I am loving this book so far! (view spoiler)[Its like putting on my favorite shoes or something reading this book! I'm so glad Hector and Elisa are back together, and now getting along again! The story is so much better with the two of them! Storm is very interesting, and I'm starting to like him. The little girl, Mula, is adorable and I'm wondering what she will hold to the story. I'm sure she will become important somehow. Elisa has come so far since the beginning of this story! She is just awe inspiring! (hide spoiler)]

I don't know how to do the spoilers still lol however, yes me too! I'm at chapter 23 I think half way thru. The beginning I had a bit of a hard time getting into after Ashes, and also I hadn't read the other in awhile. I was under the impression that her sister was wanting to marry Hector? But it's not really mentioned in the book yet. And I love Stormer!!!!I can't see your spoilers right now Jenny cause i'm using the app on my cell phone but when I get home I will log into my laptop so I can view your spoilers.

Cindee (view spoiler)[ Alodia does want to marry Hector...but at the end of Crown of Embers, they find out that the southern kingdom has gone to Civil War becasue they are insulted by Elisa's choices. So she plans to marry Hector, who is a southern lord for a political play. She also loves him of course! Then he is taken. She had announced her's and Hector's betrothal before the end of the book, so he would not be harmed. So Alodia would probably know this, although she was traveling to the capitol I think at the end of the last book. (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you about Mula, there is a bigger story there waiting. Like I said, I had a bit of hard time getting into it and trying to remember what happened at the end of the second, thanks for the recap, however it didn't take me long to fall in love with the characters and story again. Elisa is so much stronger then she was in the the other stories. But I love her just the same. I do hope they bring Alodia into the story more, also I would like to hear from her father and see if he's proud of Elisa. Great story so far!

Okay I finished it yesterday!! Read it mostly all at once, I figured I would! Final thoughts(view spoiler)[OMG, what a perfect ending to a perfect series. This is one of my fave trilogies of all time now! The scene where Hector and Elisa finally get to "get together"--lol--was beautiful! The way the story tied everything up was great! I want more books on Elisa and Hector!!! I loved how we find out this whole time, all her fighting her enemies, wasn't really her Godly service. Its was digging an oasis out of the desert! lol And in the end how she had to defeat Eduardo without her stone--Thank God Hector taught her so many skills! And I loved how Eduardo tried to justify all this killing he'd done by the fact that she was unfit to rule because she was 17. Yeah, right, she was the only one smart enough to figure out a way to get everyone to make peace. What an arrogant idiot! I can't wait to hear your thoughts on this one, Cindee! (hide spoiler)]
Elisa (view spoiler)[ She was just amazing in this story from start to finish. I think her heart was always in the right place, but she became so strong and smart from the beginning of the story. And she defeated Eduardo pretty much all on her own! Girl power! (hide spoiler)]

Hector (view spoiler)[ Do they make guys any better than this??? He was so awesome, but still realistic. He made some mistakes. I couldn't believe he didn't just jump at the chance to marry Elisa when she asked. I think that mostly had to do with pride, but he got over it! The banter between Elisa and Hector through the book was so fun, I kept rereading those pages just for entertainment value! (hide spoiler)]

Storm (view spoiler)[ I was so sorry for him when his sister died. He was a great hero in this story, and he never let Elisa down. I really liked his character! (hide spoiler)]

Red (Mula) (view spoiler)[She was probably the most interesting character of the series. She was important, they needed her a lot for their plans. I loved the scene where she picked her name, that was so cute! (hide spoiler)]

Mara (view spoiler)[ We didn't get as much relationship talks with her in this one, but she was still an awesome loyal friend! I just wish she'd marry Belen! (hide spoiler)]

Belen (view spoiler)[ He was so awesome in the first third of the story, then after they got Hector back, he almost disappeared from the page. He was there occasionally, but I missed getting some of his perspective sometimes. My only complaint (hide spoiler)]

Alodia (view spoiler)[ I'm glad she and Elisa mended some fences, but I think they still have a long ways to go! I really don't like Alodia all that much, but I don't think she's a bad person. She's just had a lot of responsibility. I was really sad that their father had died, I would have loved a reunion with all 3 of them. (hide spoiler)]

LOVED THIS BOOK so much!! A great trilogy, one of my faves ever!!

I'm on chapter 29 after Hector had fallen but they saved him. I'm not feeling well so normally I would be up reading till late but I can't seem to stay awake past 9:00 so I'm plugging away. but if I remember this is one of those trilogy's that I liked reading slow cause I can't get the story or characters out of my head. its one of those stories where you want to be where they are, love stories that can do that.

yeah it was bittersweet to finish. I want to read it again!

oh man its getting good, and its almost over! I'm up to the part where a letter about prince Rosario is wishing for Elisa to come home. Not a huge fan of Alodia, she's just alright for me, but her match Elisa gave her I hope there is more on that! I'm now at an area I want to slow down, I will miss them all so much, but buddy read Shadows awaits us Friday.

I just finished it and WOW it was AMAZING!!!!!!!

WOOOOOT!!! I know, I'm so sad its over :( I reread the last chapter 6 times because I just couldn't let it go!

I will be finishing it tomorrow night, I could stay up and finish, but seriously no more Elisa or Hector or Storm or Red? No, one more night *sigh*

Have you guys read the novellas?

I read the Shadow Cats awhile ago...its a prequel story involving Elisa and Alodia from Alodia's POV. It was pretty good, and alludes to how jealous she is of Elisa. I need to read the other two!

THe Shattered Mountain is from Mara's POV, so her back story. THe King's Guard is Hector's POV, when he was 15, and how he becomes the King's Guard, and friends with Alejandro. MUST READ IT!!!

I read the same one you did Jenny but not the other two, I will have to get those too. then wait a bit and read them all again in order!

awww sniff sniff, I just finished it. it was a good ending winding things up, left you to your imagination with some story lines, like with Storm, Alodia, Red and Rosario, the author could keep on writing forever. I tell you I don't think I would ever tire of these characters.
I wish they could've figured out the godstone for her but its OK that its a mystery. at the same time tho I thought she needed that godstone to keep with that treaty, if they found out she is powerless they could wage war again no? then it would no longer be binding? I wanted her to figure out how to use that stone like Storm lol. anyway great series loved it from beginning to end.

YAY! (view spoiler)[ I kind of like that the Godstone was left with a little mystery. Do any of us really understand God? I think that was a solid point made by Rae!
