Jay Howard (jay_howard) GROUP 17
- moderator Anne Carlisle
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

START DATE: 14 September 2013

END DATE: 07 December 2013

Please remember the commitment you are making to your fellow group members. If you don’t think you can manage to do 4 book reviews between these dates please let me know now. I will find someone else for this group and you will be able to choose a later group that will be more suitable for you. If you pull out after the start date for any reason it is the other members who will be faced with the problem of finding a replacement, or missing out on reviews, through no fault of their own. Please don’t ask the moderators to chase after replacements as we just don’t have the time.

It is the responsibility of the author to get their book to their reviewer in a format the reviewer can manage. When the file is received, please post a GR link to the book in this thread so that the author has confirmation that reviewing of the correct book has started.

There are no set dates for the start of each round. You can each work at your own pace, within the limits of the round deadlines. All reviews must be posted by 07 December 2013.

When you have posted your review on GR please post a link to your review in this thread.

All reviews of 3, 4 or 5 stars must be posted to GR, Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.

If the rating is 1 or 2 stars, the review must be posted to GR but the author should be asked if they want the review to go to Amazon or not.

Postings to any other sites are by agreement by both author and reviewer.

DON’T FORGET TO POST THE LINK TO THE BOOK(S) YOU WILL BE PUTTING FORWARD FOR REVIEWING. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN YOU LOSING YOUR PLACE TO ANOTHER MEMBER.

In the next post are the listings for the 4 review rounds, the who reviews who stuff. You don’t have to put forward the same book for every round, but you can only ask for one review per round.

Happy reviewing, everyone :)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) If I’ve missed something that results in you being asked to review someone who has already reviewed you, please let me know asap. ‘Sign in’ by pasting the GR link to the book you want reviewed, and start swapping books ready for round 1 once I’ve posted that we’re all signed in and there are no clashes needing a rearrangement of the order.

Jay Howard (jay_howard) DO NOT START SWAPPING BOOKS UNTIL YOU ARE ALL SIGNED IN
It frequently happens that despite expressing interest not all prospective members sign in to a group. It might also be the case that there are reviewing clashes – if so I’ll need to rearrange the review ordering. Please wait until I give the all clear and hand the group over to your group moderator. Thank you.

You're very welcome to a copy of Of Words and Water - and tell all you friends and family they can have copies too. We're trying to spread the message about the work WaterAid does so the more people who pick up copies the better.

Thanks, Jason, I might take you up on that generous offer. I'll have to look at how it would affect your own group reviewing here - that has to take priority.

I've swapped your placing in the ordering, Jason, to avoid the clash I've just spotted with you and Dean. This also puts you in a position to take round 1 for Words and Water if you're still up for that - no problem if that's difficult.

I bought Alexander's book already since it was only 99 cents, but that's okay - sounds interesting, will read and review on my own time.

So if I got this right, in Round 1, I will be reviewing Lana and Sabena, the latter on Behalf of OF Words and Water. That's fine by me.

Small world, lots of surprises and coincidences, eh? Personally I don't see a review of the anthology, all 17 authors + Peggy, being a bar to one of those 17 authors reviewing the reviewer's work. If anyone else feels differently please shout out now, otherwise I'll let it stand. You're an honourable man, Jason, and know you to be a fair reviewer.

message 35: by Deborah (new)

Deborah Mitton (goodreadscomdeborah_mitton) Hello - everyone I am new to this group - this is what my novel is about HF - Suspense
Ten For The Devil is a labyrinthine murder/revenge ride from an idyllic English Village to the industrious shipbuilding port of Saint John, NB (then St. John), in the newly formed country of Canada, over a span of fifty years.
Chief Inspector Michael McLaughlin has believed that his nemesis was dead, but discovers that Seth Shaw is alive and in the very city that Michael and his family are visiting. His love ones at risk, Michael closes in on a collision course with a serial murderer while the city is in flames.
Book 1 - Michael was an eleven year old boy when he witnessed a murder and the lives of the families - friends, of both our murderer and witness are intertwined throughout generations from 1850 to modern day. A dark tale of obsession, revenge, murder, seduction, a love curse, reparation and survival. Our young boy grows up to join Scotland Yard and is obsessed with bringing Seth Shaw to justice. There is a sense of paranormal forces at work protecting our villain.
The story’s climax will occur during the fire of June 20, 1877: a fire - second - only in size and damages to the famous Boston fire.

Hi Gwen - I've corrected the link (sorry about that!) - but we none of us know for sure yet who we're reviewing as not all the members who said they wanted in have shown up yet, and 2 have pulled out of this group. I'll give them another day or 2 before reshuffling if necessary.

Tinley Innes (tinleyinnes) I'm signing in. My book isn't available through Amazon until October 1st, so I'll email the book to whoever is reviewing it. I'm still a little confused about how this all works, but I guess I'll just try to go with the flow.
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

message 44: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Thanks, Lana and Tinley :)
Don't fret about the 'how', Tinley, you'll soon get the hang of it. Basically the authors contact their reviewers, one round at a time or all at once is your choice. The author sends their book to the reviewer and the reviewer gets the reviews posted to GR and Amazon by the round end date (any time before that is fine).

message 45: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) More great news - Thomas can join this group rather than waiting until November so we're all signed in and can start swapping books. I'll amend the ?? back to Thomas' name and then hand you all over to your group moderator, Anne.

If you have any questions/problems try posting here first and help each other out. If you can't resolve it Anne will be on hand to give a hand.

I hope you all enjoy the reviewing process with us.

Anne Carlisle (acarlisle) | 328 comments Candice wrote: "Please post when it is time for us to swap books."

Candice, the dates are posted above -- September 14 to December 7. We don't "swap" books. You need to look at the list and see who the four authors are that you are supposed to review; if you don't hear from them, correspond with them to get their books. There will be four others that will review you, and it's your job to get your book to them. Hopefully each person in the group will have all their reviews posted by the end and will have received four reviews. We are volunteers and on the honor system. You take it from here.
