Ann, I know what you mean! I am a member of the English Mysteries Group here on G/R and have toyed with the idea of starting a topic there listing all the perplexing British-isms I run across when I'm reading that genre that I'm sure folks there could clarify. Many I can figure out in context, like car-park for parking lot and bed-sit for efficiency apartment, but there are some ("Bob's your uncle" -- what?!?!) that elude me. I'll let you know if I do.
Although, now you're making me think, I could probably do just as well with Google. But that wouldn't be half as much fun!

Mel, I had this on the request list from the library until my dentist loaned me his copy. Haven't started it yet. $5.99 is a great price, though, if I didn't already have a copy I'd think seriously about buying it for my Kindle.
You probably know the backstory -- that it was getting all kinds of raves over in the UK, and that was before anyone knew it was J.K. Rowling! So I'm guessing it's good....

Peace, Seeley
