Mindi Poelwijk (mindip) Hi all, this has most likely been asked (and answered) before, but does the Dark-Hunter Series (Acheron (Dark-Hunter, #22) have to be read in order?
TIA - Mindi

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I liked being able to see the comparison of y the Dark Hunters are questioning who/what/why Ash is. Then being able to finally read his book. It is a lot more fulfilling that way than just jumping right to his book.

Some ppl say each book can be read stand alone. I did not read it that way. I did not skip any. I even read the novellas. So I can't be one to recommend beginning with Ash's story. Though it was the best (first-time) book I read for 2008 =D. Can someone else recommend it?

I would say yes. You will miss SOOOOO much of the back story and about all of the characters that it wont be as good of a book otherwise.

I am sure you could pick it up and think it was good.. but with all of the back information in all of the other books.. god... they make it so much better.

So my answer is YES! :D

Kathryn (kathry) Oh please read them in order! I'm doing what Kenjii did, reading the entire series, even every little story in the order that Kenyon suggests:

http://www.dailyinquisitor.com/hunter...

I guess before I started the series there was a different original order. I'm getting ready to start The Dream-Hunter, which I think is book #18. Acheron is #22 (almost there!) and I am very excited to read it! But there has been soooo much info in the previous books, part of the fun being that we are given only tidbits of who/what Acheron is, that I couldn't imagine reading the series out of order.

Mindi Poelwijk (mindip) Thanks for everyone's input. I guess I need to go hunt down the first book.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I was able to get the entire series (up to the latest) as an e-book bundle. Including novellas and the companion. Great for a fan like me that was planning on going on through trying to find them through swaps and thrift stores, lol.

So far I am squeezing in the reading of Fantasy Lover in between my romance suspense and horror novels. I am not thriving on PNR so I have pulled back on the other PNR I was reading this month. I have a special connection with the Dark Hunter series that no matter what. Whenever I read a DH book. It's the right time =D.

Mindi Poelwijk (mindip) Okay, so I know everyone told me to read them in order, but I just couldn't wait. I have no patience. I am listening to Acheron and absolutely LOVE IT. I am on disc nine and it has been heart wrenching. I'm going to go back and read them all.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 168 comments Ooh, out of curiosity, is the narrator good? I've already read the book, but bought the audiobook from audible a month or so ago. I just haven't gotten around to listening to it yet.

Mindi Poelwijk (mindip) Graham Holter is the narrator and I think he is great. His voice is sexy but shows all the emotions.
