Susan Pearson (susanpearson) I am wondering how to add a new addition to a book, I cannot use the add new book feature because I am told that the ISBN already exists but the version I have is not shown as one of the options. The book is a complete works of Shakespeare so there is already 150+ others but not mine.

Jessica | 963 comments Have you searched the ISBN and see what edition comes up? And if so, what shows you that it is different than yours? If it's the cover, it might just be that the wrong cover is uploaded. ISBNs are (mostly) unique, so if it is being used chances are that's the edition you want.

Susan Pearson (susanpearson) As well as the cover the publishers details are different, Sterling is in the site and mine is published by 'Chancellor Press'. The book coming up on the system is entitled 'The Complete Illustrated Works of William Shakespeare' my physical copy is entitled 'The Illustrated Stratford Shakespeare'

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments Susan, Sometimes ISBNs are actually reused. It's hard to find Shakespeare editions because there are so many of them, but if you're sure your edition is not in the database do add it. When you manually add it do so without the ISBN; put the ISBN in the book description field with an explanatory note that it's an ISBN that's been assigned to another edition.
