Fall to me means football games, Halloween and carving pumpkins. Sitting out at night by the fire pit and making S'mores.

Enjoying seasonal indulgences with flavors of pumpkins, apples, and ginger.

Thanks to Rachel, Diana, Angarad, HJ, Angie, Brenda, Deanna, and Sarah-Jane.
I feel kinda bad to say this, but since this is a thematic challenge, we do end up being the opposite for those on the Southern Hemisphere, Sarah-Jane. I'll add your observations for those folks who are on the other side of the equator.

Wow! What a turnout. Thank so much to everyone who commented. I think we've gotten a lot of feedback, so I should have something awesome to work with putting this challenge together.
I haven't exactly decided what we're doing, but I hope it will be fun, and you guys definitely did a lot to put this together.
Thanks to Jessica, Joni, Sandy, Ki, Michelle, Mrsdeborahjean, Diane, and Deeva05 for your comments.
While we have plenty of comments to work with, if you just want to post your thoughts just for fun, feel free. We have some overlap, but you may have something very unique to add to the overall comments!
Thanks again!
I will be pondering how to put this challenge together, and will post an update with the details of the challenge. I'll send another event notification at that point.

But I also love the cooling of the weather, leaves changing color. Our annual trip to Holly Hill at the peak of the color.
And pumpkin pie and my family!
Fall is my favorite time of year!

I thought I was too late in signing up for this, but I guess not? So that's good. Sounds like a fun theme, and I'll try to get my entry in asap!
Thanks!

Thanks to everyone who continues to post. I probably won't add any more descriptions above, since we met our limit, but I love hearing people's thoughts on Fall. Thanks for sharing!

Some of our members posted their thoughts on the event reminder!
Here they are!
Jan said: "It rained in Hampshire yesterday, a soft autumn storm that brought down hardly any leaves. The dahlias are no longer in stem and frost has withered the chrysanthemums, but the air smells divine, like old leaves and wet bark, and ripe apples. Have you ever noticed each month has its own smell?"
Lisa Kleypas, Love in the Afternoon.
I have lurked on their thread for years and found some of my favorite books from your recommendations, including the divine Captain Christopher Phelan, recipient of this Cryano-like letter from Beatrix Hathaway written to him at the front with the 95th Rifles in the Crimean War.
Thank you all for the years of pleasure you have brought me.

Justice said: Cooler weather, warmer clothing, mums, hayrides, pumpkins.
Bella said: The colorful foliage and cooler air, buying mums and pumpkins for the porch all make me happy that's it's fall.
KimKyle said: The scent of burning leaves, the spicy warm taste of apple cider, the first breath of cold air and the sound of cheering football fans let you know it's fall in the South!

DHASG Fall Harvest Challenge
Introduction: The fall season is nearly upon us, and we definitely need to celebrate that on the DHASG! A good way to do that is an interactive challenge.
We asked the members to tell us what they think of when they consider the season of fall, and the response was fantastic! So here's what we go from the members:
List of Things DHASG Members Think of/Associate with Fall:
1. I think of the changing of the coolness in the air with the changing of the leaves. This all brings a smell of crispness to the air and I want a bonfire with roasting of marshmallows!
2. Here in the south, I always the first cool front that snaps our humidity, and of course ordering the first pumpkin spice latte at the local coffee shop.
3. Fall gets me excited for Bonfire night! Making and burning Guy, fireworks, sparklers, mushy peas, stew, family, crunching leaves under feet!
4. Fall to me means football games, Halloween and carving pumpkins. Sitting out at night by the fire pit and making S'mores.
5. Leaf piles to jump in.
6. I think of Halloween. Can't wait to see all of those creative costumes.
7. It's my mom's pumpkin pies, it means fall has set it with love.
8. I think of the fall colors, cozy sweaters, snuggling under afghans to read, hot chocolate, football, Halloween, making soup, pumpkins and caramel apples.
9. Cool temps. Scenic drives looking at the changing leaves. Bonfires. Hoodies. Spiced apple cider. Pumpkin patches. Corn mazes. The movie Hocus Pocus. Time change.
10. When the fall season rolls around, I want to be scared. Since I associate fall with Halloween, I have spooky superstitions on my mind, thoughts of fog rolling in over the cemetery by where I live, and of course I'm thinking about scary creatures! (Some of which may be featured in my favorite PNR's...) ☺
11. Jumping in piles of leaves in colors or red brown and orange. Enjoying seasonal indulgences with flavors of pumpkins, apples, and ginger.
12. The Fall season when the cold comes back, when you can sit in front of the fire with a good book and a cup of tea. It is when you watch in fascination the leaves dance with the wind. It is when the forest takes fire throught its trees.
13. When I think of fall, I think of decorating out of doors with corn stalks, bales of hay, pumpkins, and some chrysanthemums thrown in for a splash of color!
14. The onset of fall brings the scent of cinnamon, cloves and ginger from Grami's Gingersnaps, and the smokey fragrance of a crackling fire while curled up with a book under a warm, hand knitted throw.
^_^
15. For me fall means cleaning up and winter-proofing my gardens. Pumpkins ripening. Fall decorations. Apple pies.
16. Fall is when the hot weather ebbs. When I lived in Florida it was when the northern birds returned. Now that I live in the Mid-Atlantic it is the turning of the leaves that captivates my sight. Our imagination is sparked by Halloween and just before winter arrives we are moved to be thankful for whatever we have. A good journey.
17. Its spring for me in Australia :D So i get to see all the new baby birds, the fruit trees are blooming, my toes are defrosting AND my nose and eyes are itchy and red ( damn hayfever haha).
18. I think of the start of the holiday season beginning with Halloween. Also the beginning of the school year.
19. Fall for me means: candy corn, cool crisp mornings, hay rides and scarecrows, daylight savings time, football, and Octoberfest.
20. I think of Thanksgiving and the smell of turkey and homemade bread baking in the kitchen. The time of year that family makes a point of getting together when they've been too busy the rest of the year.
21. I think of Thanksgiving and the smell of turkey and homemade bread baking in the kitchen. The time of year that family makes a point of getting together when they've been too busy the rest of the year.
22. I think of riding to the mountains to see the leaves at their "peak" and digging out the crock pot to make chili for tailgating parties.
23. Cooler weather, Halloween,and Thanksgiving.
24. The kick-off for fall is our Stew Cook-Off and County Fair. The Fall Bazaar is also another favorite I associate with fall. The smell of burning leaves in the air!
25. Oh I love Fall! It means cool breezes and cool clean air up here in the Midwest. And of course the beautiful Fall colors on the trees here are magical~ Rain during this time of year is also loved, the air just smells great.
26. Fall is my favorite time of the year. I love the crispness of the air, a new school year, a time for new beginnings ( I was married in Oct.), time to watch scary movies in preparation of Halloween, and a new season of Walking Dead!
27. Fall represents the beauty of the leaves changing on the trees from green to shades of orange and red. The vibrant colors one sees in the many delicious foods presented at thanksgiving. Family. Friends. Warmth. Being thankful. Being spooked and letting your imagination run wild during halloween. It means many things to me but this is what I can think of right now.
28. Well here in Australia we are well past it and now into Spring. But for me it is always a reminder of the winter to come, the extra crispness to the morning air, that little thrill of knowing winter will be here soon. I'm a cold climate lover! But here right now in spring is just glorious, all the native flowers are in bloom, and the birds are a riot!
29. I live in the beautiful northwest surrounded by trees. Fall brings us the changing of colors and the chill of fall. Warm apple cider, pumpkins, and snuggly sweaters. There's always something to enjoy!
30. I think of apples and back to school time.
31. I live in Wisconsin and bleed the Green and Gold, Go Pack!!!! So I always think of football when it comes to fall.
But I also love the cooling of the weather, leaves changing color. Our annual trip to Holly Hill at the peak of the color.
And pumpkin pie and my family!
Fall is my favorite time of year!
33. Getting to snuggle up in my favorite overly big sweatshirts and jammy pants and READING. :)
34. One thing I love about Fall? I can't do it! Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the cooler, crisper weather and wearing sweaters and turtlenecks. I love the colors of fall leaves and Chrysanthemums (did I spell that correctly?) and pumpkins. I love Halloween and Thanksgiving. I love fires in the fireplace and apple scented candles. I love soups, stews, and warm breads. I love Fall!
