Hey, gang!

It's time for August's Group Read suggestions!

Considering all the horrible things that have been seen in the waters this summer.....sharks, Portuguese man of wars, people wearing nothing but dental floss and body hair....I thought a good theme might be:

AQUATIC HORROR!

Oceans, lakes, streams, puddles....as long as it's wet and weird, it works for me!

It's a long one, but I've had The Swarm by Frank Schatzing on my "meaning to read someday" shelf for several years now, so I'm going to nominate it.

This was the book that first came to mind for me. I've had it on my TBR list for awhile now.

I'll nominate this collection of short stories, all of which have to do with water. It's called Dark Water by Koji Susuki.

Dead Sea is a good nomination. There's always The Deep .

How about Night of the Crabs?

Vostok looks good, but it's the sequel to The Loch.

VOSTOK links the Loch and Meg--I have it, but haven't read it yet. (Love Alten's work!)

Love the theme. Very creative. Everyone should read Curran's Dead Sea sooner or later. I consider it one of those HA must reads, up there with The Summer I Died and The Pilo Family Circus.

Dead Sea is a masterpiece. The only reason I didn't nominate it myself is because I finished it just 9 months ago.

The Dead Sea was like a fever dream. (That's a good thing!)

I've read DEAD SEA three times (the last time just last year, or it would have been by top choice).

I have Dead Sea. This would give me a way to get it off my TBR list!

Seems like Dead Sea is already the front-runner. I started reading it last summer, but stalled out. Maybe as part of a group I could actually finish it.

I nominate Meg (Have to read but haven't read) or Dead Sea by Brian Keene - it's a zombie themed but it's mainly in the water and I want to do a re-read, it's a favorite of mine.

I am okay with Curran's Dead Sea too - I haven't read that one or own it yet but see around here it's widely enjoyed.

Dead Sea sounds good and looks like a strong contender....
How about Jaws or Kraken ?

has been on my tbr pile for a while and it is the classic water/ocean horror story. I'll go with that.

I've read Meg twice because I'm such a sicker for sharks and dinosaurs. I about 15% into Dead Sea, so that's my pick.

I second 'Meg.' It's on my 'to read' list, and they're turning it into a movie, so it might be a good time to pick it!
