The most challenging thing was the editing- before I learned Adobe InDesign. The next challenging thing was learning InDesign, and then learning about the options for finding a an agent vs. going through the self-publishing process.
It's one thing to be able to revise, edit, and sequence words. It's a bit different to do this with pictures- and then get the whole thing to flow in user friendly format. I don't have a background in graphic design- I suppose if I did I would not have had the same set of challenges!
I also think that I would get really excited about the book, but then discouraged when I realized how much editing it needed (especially after receiving feedback). It teaches you that the journey of writing can- if you have the patience to keep making it better with growth and feedback- make your end product so much more powerful.
