☯Emily Ginder | 19098 comments For those of you who have had your head in a book for the past five days, there's been an official Goodreads announcement of policy changes on permissible shelf names and new review guidelines that has not been announced to all members. This is the link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Thanks for mentioning this Emily. With permission from Karma♥Bites @ Kindle Smut, I've borrowed how to backup your reviews to your computer. I've done it, so that'll let you know that it was pretty easy.

As you may or may not have heard, GR announced last Friday certain clarifications, as well as changes, to its policies re: book reviews and member shelvings. A general group post was made here.

Although the recent changes won't affect most members too drastically going forward, slight problems have emerged as GR implemented its new policies last Friday. It appears that some members had their reviews and/or shelvings deleted erroneously and GR cannot recover the lost data.

Thus, we advise everyone—especially those w/ reviews—to immediately back-up their GR info. To export your GR data to a .csv file:
— Got to 'My Books' page and scroll all the way to last grouping on left-hand side.

— Click 'import/export' and on next page, look to top-right corner for 2nd green link = 'export to a csv file'

— Click and window will pop up to save .csv file to PC.

NOTE: You would use Excel or similar program (or Google Docs) to open/view this .csv file. Also, you can then import its data onto other sites (or just keep as back-up and view from PC). IIRC, file contains everything - ratings, reviews, shelves, ISBNs, etc.

♪ Kim N (crossreactivity) Thank you for posting the link, Emily. I'm now caught up on the issue and fully appreciate the new addition to your name. I can't imagine why there is no general announcement or response to questions on an issue that has stirred up so much concern at GR.
