ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I keep re-reading Julie Garwood's books The Prize and The Secret. Love them both. Read each about 5 times now. As far as a christmas themed one goes, I've reread Gina Wilkins Make-Believe Mistletoe 3 or 4 times.

Varsha | 9 comments Hey Briansgirl

Both book looks very tempting. I will read them for sure :)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I reread those 2 so much from Julie Garwood that until I put them into Goodreads I didn't realize I hadn't finished reading all her others. lol Both of those books, The Prize and The Secret have both stong male and strong female lead characters and a few surprises thrown in now and then. Oh, and both are historicals. The Secret takes place in the Scottish Highlands back when Scotland and England hated each other. So yes, the lady is English and the man is a Scottish Laird. In The Prize, it takes place in England at the time when the Saxon's were invaded by the Normans. The lady is Saxon and the man is Norman.

Melissa | 1245 comments The Tairen Soul books by C.L. Wilson
Lord of the Fading Lands
Lady of Light and Shadows
King of Sword and Sky
Queen of Song and Souls (out soon)

I've only read the first two because the second two weren't published yet at that time. I'm waiting for the last one to be released before starting book 3 because they are intense and I know I won't want to wait to finish the story. This is an epic love story with lots of cool magic and a great plot carried across the books.

Chronicles of the Warlands by Elizabeth Vaughan
Warprize
Warsworn
Warlord

This trilogy was very intense and I had to put a few books between reading them because my heart hurt. I totally fell in love with all the characters and really hated to be done reading about them. Again, an epic love story way back in time. The writing is fantastic and I've since bought her other books, but have yet to start them.

Both of these series are ones I would read over and over.

This by far out of the BDB series was really touching in more ways then just romance.

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 1888 comments Lover Awakened is one of my all-time favs too, Varsha.

Brainsgirl, I also really enjoyed The Secret and The Prize. I think they are two of my favorite Julie Garwood books I've read to date.

Some others that were intensely romantic for me:
The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
The Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon
Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Lover Unbound by J. R. Ward
Always to Remember by Lorraine Heath
The Devil You Know by Liz Carlyle
Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
Annie's Song by Catherine Anderson
Beauty Like the Night by Liz Carlyle
A Rose in Winter by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss
Lord of Fire by Gaelen Foley

I still have lots of others that were really romantic, but didn't want the list to get too long. These are just my perfect 5-star reads.:-)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) all this talk about the books is making me think about rereading them yet again. lol

message 9: by Varsha (new)

Varsha | 9 comments All the books suggested so far has given us so many to read :) thanks all

message 10: by new_user (new)

new_user These are more on the fantasy side, but they tugged at my heart the most:

Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters trilogy - historical fantasy
Guy Gavriel Kay's The Lions of al-Rassan - historical (alternate) fantasy
Melanie Rawn's Exiles duology and Dragon Prince trilogy.

Oh my, that is like my earliest romance reads that got me sold to reading romance novels. Wulfgar and Aislinn's story will always have a special part of me, although my favorite Kathleen Woodiwiss book is A Rose In Winter. I just love Christopher Seton.

Lauren | 81 comments Hands down Lover Unbound for me.

Desire Unchained A Demonica Novel
and A Hunger Like No Other
are close second and third for me

message 14: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 1888 comments A Rose in Winter is one of my favs too, Yz, and it was also the hero who made that book so enjoyable for me. He was great.:-)

Diandra Knutson (ambrosia_books) | 7 comments Decadent and Wicked Ties by Shayla Black is probably my top two books that have made me want to drop the book, find a random man, and get mine lol hahahha. I'm talking steaming HOT sex scenes that fog up glass. I'm jealous of all the women who are married and have read this book. They get instant satisfaction when they're put in the mood... lol :o)

message 20: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 09, 2009 10:25AM) (new)

Here are a few of my picks:

1) Paradise by Judith McNaught - This book was simply amazing and even after re-reading it for so many times, it always surprises that I'm still discovering quite a lot of things of why I love this book. I just love Matt Farrell. Other books by this author that I re-read often are Almost Heaven and A Kingdom of Dreams
2)Kiss an Angel and This Heart of Mine both Susan Elizabeth Phillips
3)Dreaming of You and Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
4) The Viscount Who Loved Me by Julia Quinn

Fani *loves angst* (fanip) I love intense romances and make a point of trying to find new ones. These are the first to come at the top of my head:

The Dangerous Gentleman by Julia London
The Secret Pearl by Mary Balogh
Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn
The Leopard Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
After the Kiss by Joan Johnston
Just Wicked Enough by Lorraine Heath
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas
Enslaved by Virginia Henley
The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran
Deeper by Meagan Hart

I'm in agreement with this observation. She is one author whose sex scenes are so hot, I didn't really care that the plot line was pretty weak...It was just fun...LOL

Shannon (Savhage Temptrest) (savhagetemptress) | 165 comments For me they have to be:

The Host by Stephenie Meyer
Born of Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Lover Awakened by J.R. Ward
Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh
Dawn's Awakening by Lora Leigh

All these books inspired some tears, laughter, sexy thoughts, and just had me sighing at the very end! They all also had the main Romantic theme that I look for in my books even though the first two are Sci-Fi/Urban Fantasy genres. The romance element in all these books were intense enough for me to leave a very strong impression, and have me reading them over and over again. I know I can think of more books that inspire some of the same feelings, but these just stand out the most for me!

The Host by Stephenie Meyer Born of Night (The League, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Lover Awakened (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #3) by J.R. Ward Blaze of Memory (Psy-Changeling, #7) by Nalini Singh Dawn's Awakening (Breeds, #14) by Lora Leigh

I hope you do. I've been on a Garwood binge. Over the past 3 weeks or so I have read:

The Bride
The Wedding
The Secret
Ransom
Shadow Music
Guardian Angel
The Gift
Castles
Saving Grace

And I'm now reading-
The Prize

I just can't get enough of her historicals.

Easily one of my, if not the, favorites of the Breeds series.

Caleb (ccp981) My Wicked Enchantress (Lovegram Historical Romance) by Meagan McKinney

I've read this one over and over again. I really loved St. Bride. He's one of my favorite fictional men ever.

message 29: by Mikki (new)

Mikki I don't even have to think about this -- Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters books. Namely, the first two of the trilogy -- can't say I really liked the last book on the same level as the first two because those were honestly the best books I've ever read. I am always an emotional wreck at the end of her books (I loved Wildwood Dancing and Cybele's Secret). Reread to ribbons.

It's not just because Marillier's romances are always so sweet and occasionally heartrending -- it's also the family element that she always weaves into the writing that makes the books such powerful reads, and damn if you don't wish you were the heroine. XD

I have both these series on my TBR list--you just bumped them up for me. :)

And new_user & Ori--I too loved the Sevenwaters series, the 1st three more than the last one, that was my least fave, but it was still really good.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 350 comments Courtney Milan's story in The Heart of Christmas A Handful of Gold\The Season for Suitors\This Wicked Gift counts for me. I must read more of her writing.

Ez (ezrah-rah) | 387 comments Let's see...

Lover Awakened - I just loved Zsadist and Bella's relationship.

Lover Eternal - This is my 2nd fave in the BDB series, after LA, and I've gone back to re-read it several times.

Flowers from the Storm - My all-time fave romance novel.

Daughter of the Forest, Son of the Shadows, Heir to Sevenwaters - These are all part of Juliet Marillier's "Sevenwaters" series and they're classified as fantasy, but I just adore the relationships in her books and I go back a re-read passages from them fairly often.

Gigi | 1149 comments Well, most recently there were 3.

Duncan's Bride- Oh my gosh. I loved this love story immensely. A story about emotional baggage and trust. It was so sweet. Definitely a favorite of mine this year.

The Color of Love- A love story about 2 people from different backgrounds who fall in love and have to cope with outside interference/opinions. They have to learn that the relationship really just about them and no one else.

The Choice- I couldn't put this book down. Theres a lesson in this book about taking loved ones for granted and about hoping vs. letting go.

Duncan's Bride (Duncan & Evangeline, #1) by Linda Howard The Color of Love by Sandra Kitt The Choice by Nicholas Sparks

Annie (bookhaulin) | 12 comments The Fever books by Karen Moning! Granted, there's more action in the earlier books (sprinkled with liberal amounts of steamy scenes), but when the romance really plays out in Shadowfever...*sighs*.
I read some scenes over and over again, intense doesn't begin to describe them. Mac and Barrons have an explosive relationship.

Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Faefever (Fever, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Dreamfever (Fever, #4) by Karen Marie Moning Shadowfever (Fever, #5) by Karen Marie Moning Bloodfever (Fever, #2) by Karen Marie Moning
