Just curious if people have such words that they dislike so much they can't stand seeing in a novel. :P

incredulous

I just saw it on a newspaper headline.

"The incredulous tourists couldn't believe the cheetah jumped on the jeep!"

Its like, look at me! I know words!

Why do I even read that newspaper...

Giulia I read romance, some erotic romance and there is a certain word I hate seeing in reference to a woman's body part. I want to scream when I see it.

Ok now I've got to check the dictionary. I thought a swag was a piece of clothe or something. (Don't ask me why I thought that. It's the first thing that came to mind when I read the word.)

Yeah Giulia, which one? All of them? I know some are I would say rather 'original' to stay polite.

Unless opposite had been used a lot already and the author needed something different before the readers would go mad?

See, it's not always the words themselves that bug me but the over use. For me the word I can't stand anymore is "AS". It's a word that is often needed but the problem with it is that some authors feel 'as' if they need to use it in every sentence.
Example: As I walked down the street I turned my head as I saw someone entering a car... well ok... let's say that one is already over done but you'd be surprised how many times I've seen such sentences. Now think hard. What would you do if every other sentences used it? (Sometimes I swear it's EVERY one of them!) Well I've read a few books that way and now I can't stand the word anymore! (I still read the books when the story is good though, but I'm losing my mind a little bit more every time I see the now offensive, ugly, and hated word!)

Am I allowed to say it? The rudest one I guess, cutn.

I always think good erotic fiction doesn't use vulger words or even words to describe the organs very often. That way its more sensual, then again I don't write it or read it very often :p

Giulia Erotic romance has become extremely descriptive. Very explicit. Multiple scenes, partners. I prefer the more romantic scenes when it comes to the bedroom, but the genre has exploded and is wildly in demand.
