Locations - Task nominations
Read a book with a specific location in the title e.g. Winter in Madrid, The Venetian Affair, etc

So basically something the writer made up completely, and not a fictional/mythological location like heaven, hell, valhalla, etc. The book doesn't have to be fantasy, sci fi or similar; it can be realist/contemporary fiction in a town, school, etc. that doesn't really exist.
Read a book set in a city, town or village that's name begins with a C
It can be fictional/mythological or real. So for example either Cape Town or Camelot would work. (No states or Provinces.)

Oh no did I jump the gun! I have a serious dose of flu, I honestly have no idea why I thought the nominations had reopened!
9. Read a book set in an inhospitable environment. For example polar region or desert. It can be a real or fictional location.

Lol, that's ok, you weren't too far off.
I hope your flu disappears soon!
Yeah I think I thought the new week started on Monday but I really should have realised I was wrong when I was the only one to nominate at 10pm!
Read a book set in a location that you have visited as a tourist. So not somewhere where you live.
@ Lauren F.: How's the flu? I hope it is over and gone by now!

Read a book where the title contains a reference to a geographical feature e.g. hill, cape, river, mountain, etc

Hi Angelique, please note all tasks have to be centered around locations. But you can nominate another one :)

Read a book in which the main character travels to at least 3 different locations.
Does that work?

Yep, that's perfect :)

Note the words "explores" and "strange new": the protagonist should journey from familiar world to an exotic (to them) one they have never been to before, then travel around this new place.

I'm getting there slowly thanks Barbra :) Unfortunately because of all my other health issues I'm always a little slow to bounce back.

16. Read a book set in a real historical place. It does not matter whether the place still exists.

You guys are going to have to offer some recommendations for those!
I've just posted a list of government buildings (on the question and answer link) e.g courthouse, police station, prison, fire station. So that one is not so hard but the railway journey is another story!

Just off the top of my head what about The Road or The Stand. Oh and I Am Legend, I haven't done an actual search yet (I already have a sequel in mind) but I am pretty sure there are thousands to choose from.

Does it count if the island they live on will be taken back into the sea if they do not complete what ever quests are set before them?

Oh, so it can be set *during* the apocalypse too?

I loved Oryx and Crake. Was a bit lazy when The Year of the Flood came out and didn't get around to it, but I'm going to read the whole series In November and December.

Zombie apocalypse are a bit ambiguous I know. Mostly because the zombies are still running/staggering around trying to eat the main characters. So it is hard to say when the apocalyptic event is finished and the "post" begins. But I figure a good rule of thumb is that it is post apocalyptic once most of the population is dead and society has broken down or devolved into something more primitive.
Also it's not a problem if the book begins before the apocalypse, all books need back story. Just as long as the majority is set after the "big event."
