Lauren Smith The epic challenge is for 500+ page tomes - the epic novels we sometimes shy away from especially when trying to complete other reading challenges. You only need to read one 500+ page book in the 3-month period to complete the challenge, but you can read as many as you want and list them here, with the number of pages you've read.

To make things easier for me and to be sure I get the tally right at the end of the challenge, please use one post for planning and keeping track of your total page count, and be clear about how much you've read. You can post individual updates and chat about your books, as long as you have one post with all the info :)

Happy reading!

Rules
- Books must be at least 500 pages long.
- Because some people read eBooks that don't have page counts, they are allowed to choose an *appropriate* page count from the editions listed on Goodreads. To avoid being unfair to those reading print copies, they may also choose a higher page count from the list, even if it differs from their copy. After all, you can't always choose the print copy you buy, because of price, availability, etc.
- Note that I said an *appropriate* page count. Use basic editions, not large print, or editions with extra content that you haven't read. Also, you may only use the editions in the language in which you read the book.
- Omnibus editions are not allowed.
- Short story anthologies are allowed.
- If reading a book with indexes or any other content that you skip, make sure the page count of what you actually read amounts to 500+.

I have already read the book but you might ask for a buddy in the buddy read topic. There might be someone willing to read and discuss the book with you and that might make it easier for you to start and read the book.

message 12: by Angelique (new)

Angelique (angelique682) Thanks - I think I will do that. :)

Congrats Crusader.

I forgot to update (and have been super busy with silly season - REALLY looking forward to a break on 20 Jan!!).

My 4th quarter total was actually 4728 (so Crusader still won) and my grand total was 17004.

Wow, that's a lot of long books!

message 22: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Updated :)

Congrats guys! Those are some seriously impressive totals :)

Crusader - I think you might have left out Barbara's final total?

Gah, and I didn't save the spreadsheet. She can just post her final total and I'll add it, not keen on compiling them all again.

Don't worry. I have just made my final update for the October-December portion of the challenge (yes I did manage to read one). I haven't read that many epic books this year. Didn't read that much overall anyway because of the new job. I haven't made the top three so it isn't that important.
